Sony Europe has finally seen the light and will execute Three Speech, replacing it with the EU PlayStation blog. Three Speech is Sony Europe's "semi-official" blog, written by -- we believe -- freelancing European game journos and an outside PR company who don't byline their articles. For years, the site has drunkenly walked a line between being a Sony Europe mouthpiece and something different.
Thankfully, as of April 17, it appears Three Speech will finally take the mouthpiece mantel with pride and become the EU PlayStation blog. All we can do is hope the EU blog takes its cues from the US PlayStation Blog, a professionally-run site that provides good content and doesn't mince words about what it is.

Don't expect it to get updated more than twice a month though ;)

It's good the EU is finally getting its own official PlayStation blog, all Sony need to do now is actually update the PSN with something decent. Silent Hill is still missing after being taken down for compatability issues, and if it's anything like Crash Bandicoot 2, it won't be coming back anytime soon.

U gotta love the anti-EU vibe behind Joystiqs posts.
Nothing smells more like desperation than going for the lowest common denominator.
Maybe if SCEA were a little more forthcoming with their info, the EU contingent could sufficiently plan ahead with their news AND release dates, rather than getting in queue for the good old rumour mill like the rest of the "fanzines"

I don't think this post is anti-EU. I think many of us are frustrated at SCEE's inability to communicate with gamers. The US PS.blog has done a great job of providing great content on a daily basis. Let's hope the new EU blog will do the same.

Of course you wouldn't. You're not an EU resident.
To those that have followed Threespeech and have been grateful for all the info they have been able to provide, despite SCE hindering EU users at every turn, the whole article just wreaks of sarcasm and petty jibes at what WAS a really good substitute for a site Sony should have made in the first place.
But yet again, the Americans have to come first cos the UK is just some insignificant island surrounded by insignificant EU sub countries that really don't matter to them.

Why are you blaming us? Sony is Japanese company not an American company. The American branch has been better at doing things, which is why SCEA gives us so much stuff. You should talk to whoever is heading the European branch. It's his fault that the U.K isn't getting much.

Hi SpiderMike,
I'm a UK resident myself (and a blogger for this site) and I would've written this post in a very similar style. ThreeSpeech was an appalling site for many reasons and I for one am glad to see the back of it.
Compare the PlayStation Blog to ThreeSpeech and it's easy to see which is more worthwhile. Besides offering back-and-forth between developers/producers and the PlayStation Community, the PS Blog is actually written by people who know what they're talking about and whose job is more than just copy and pasting a press release or posting up a review for a three-month old game written by an amateur game journo.
With a European PlayStation Blog I'm hoping to see a lot more back and forth between SCEE and the community, as well as European specific news. The death of ThreeSpeech is a good thing and has been a long time coming.

At long last! I stopped subscribing to it cause I just was not sure where it was coming from. On one hand it was like they had the inside word, but then in some posts it was just a copy-paste of a press release, or a "Hey on this date we're going to bring you the inside word of a new product!" only for it to be a press release with some pseudo editorials. The only thing it was good for was PSN store update announcements... but that was until I found Joystiq.
