Valkyria Chronicles DLC available on April 16th

The best PS3 RPG to date is getting three new expansions next week. Sega has announced three DLC packs for Valkyria Chronicles:

Hard EX Mode adds a new difficulty to the campaign. The Edelweiss will be unavailable and enemies will be more lethal than before. Clearly, this is a mode for the hardcore VC players out there.
Edy's Mission "Enter the Edy Detachment" – Edy and five squad members have been separated from Squad 7. In this new mission, players will have to use this small team to defend a small village from an Imperial Army attack.
Selvaria's Mission "Behind Her Blue Flame" – No more Mr. Nice Guy. This DLC lets you play as the enemy. Play as Johann, an engineer assigned to Selvaria, in a mission that takes place right after the outbreak of Gallian battle lines.

The DLC will be available on the PlayStation Store in America and Europe. Each pack will be available for $4.99, £3.19 or €3.99.

Let us hope that this recent announcement as well as the $29.99 price tag at GameStop's Game Days event will finally motivate people to pick up one of the best next-generation RPGs available. It is a real shame this has not been getting the attention from buyers that it deserves, because it just means we might be getting more of the same in the future instead of a reliance on original IPs and creative new ideas.

Great game, *REALLY* wish it had trophies though.

Well, that answers my question. It's a shame that games still don't offer trophy support.

I feel the same way...I really wished this had trophy support. I too will pick this up at a later date, but that $30 brand new is very tempting....

I must admit the $5 price tag for each pack is a little bit intimidating... but hell, who am I kidding, I'll buy 'em all. Considering what I shell out for that over-priced LBP content, this is really kind of a bargain.

Still, would love it if they do all three for $10 in a single pack type deal.

I just picked this game up at gamestop for the $30 price tag. It looks like a really good game, but I wish it had trophy support. I hear it might get trophies in the future so I might put off playing it until then.

I haven't heard of any plans to add trophy support. Actually, I thought Sega said they weren't going to do it. Just play the game. It's a good enough game that I wouldn't mind playing it again if they do decide to add trophy support.

amazing that people won't play a game because of lack of trophy support, even though the game is amazing.

I want to get this DLC but 5 bucks for one mission is a bit pricey.

it's not just one mission. Each DLC pack has multiple missions along with new cutscenes. The EX hard mode pack also adds some new weapons too.

do we have word on this from sega? Because even reading SEGA's site makes it sound like one single mission for each pack. It actually sounds a lot like the extra missions you could get during the game by paying the girl at the newspaper stand.

damn 5 bucks a pop? I doubt i'll buy them then. I thought 5 bucks was for all 3. On the playstation blog it says they come out tomorrow.

So are trophies coming with this DLC?

I thought everything released in 2009 was supposed to have trophy support. Wouldn't that include DLC?

... btw- I just bought this at GS for $30. I really enjoyed the demo and have been waiting for a great deal. Damn budget, ya know?

I just started playing this even though i had it before Christmas but i was holding off for a trophy patch update. and these dlc sound like a rip off. The only one with value is the EX hard mode which isnt my thing. But £3.19 for one addition mission, so if you are really bad at the game about 1hr extra play?

Lol @ trophy whores.. I like trophies but I'd never let them stop me from getting a game to the level of Valkyria Chronicles.

Anyway, glad there is an announcement but the price is pretty harsh. Oh well, I'll probably pick up all 3, starting with Selvaria's.

All the people who say they won't buy the game because of trophy support, fucking hell you are sad people.

$5 for ONE mission?!

Yeah? Are these DLC missions single battles? Or are they a set of battles?

Those "Missions" are composed of a number of chapters, not sure exactly how many.

So no, it's not just one new level for $5.

I will glady pay $5 for this DLC to support the game, in hopes for a sequal and/or more content. This is totally different then paying for the RE5 DLC, which I refuse to do.

I know right? Honestly I'd give all the money I have to Sega if they just kept giving us more Valkyria Chronicles. No lie! I mean I'm even going to buy the EX Hard mode even though I'm not one for playing on anything but Normal.

Also their choice of words for the downloadable content is kinda misleading. Instead of "Mission" they should have used the word "campaign", as it's not just "one misson" as some misinformed people had thought.

Anyone avoiding this game only because it doesn't have trophies doesn't deserve to enjoy its awesomeness.
This is seriously one of the most under-appreciated games of all time and if it's just because of trophies, that's just pathetic.

C'mon people, what the hell did you do before the ps3 had trophies, only play games on the 360?

I think I'll pick up the Selvaria pack and if that's not a total ripoff (I'm not convinced it wont be), I might pick up the Edy pack. I'll probably skip the Hard EX mode: the tank is my favorite unit.
