It's an XBLA double puzzler this week with both Puzzle Quest Galactrix and Flock! landing on Microsoft's download service. Galactrix is a traditional puzzle game laced with the trappings of an RPG, while Flock! is more of a logic-based affair that has players herding animals into a spaceship. Both seem to be decent games and both will cost you significant scratch, with Galactrix costing $20 and Flock! clocking in at $15.

i thought galactrix was crap compared to the first one, and flock didn't really tickle my fancy either, so i guess i'll just buy mythic map pack and play that, cod, gears, halo wars, a my other arcade games that are good.
Markez, Richard brings up the point that many people are griping about for the DS and PC version, that you have to hack a leapgate EVERY TIME that you want to enter a new system, and if it has intrasystem fetch quests, that would get pretty tiresome. I was looking forward to getting this, but I think I'll just save $11 and get the expansion for the original.
love it when my comments dnt comment. but i dont like how they changed the way the gems fall, i liked the 1 and 5 damage skulls now they have 1-10 damage mines, you dont get abilities until you go through story a little, and mines never seem to be able to fall into place on my turn. i guess if you really want to like the game you could get use to it but its to expensive so im passing.
Thanks Richard and X3F Joystiq Xbox folks. I usually get a feel for games from these videos, as I'm running out of space. I could delete add-ons for games I'm not playing now, but whatever.
Eurogamer gave Flock! an average rating at 5, saying it got repetitive. And I still haven't bought the first Puzzle Quest which is only $10. I'm glad the service has free demos.
At above 800 points each, this is THE MOST dissapointing week for XBLA ever. If they had been 800, I likely would have purchased both, however I WILL NOT SUPPORT 801+ point games unless they are EXTREMELY good.
At $20, i cannot justify PQ, especially that I can get it for DS, then sell it for less of a loss, vs an arcade game that sits there with NO refund value once I tire of it.
The problem with the leap gates is that after a fairly short time they close again. And you spent a vast majority of the game openning leap gates instead of in combat with other ships. I think when I played on the computer that I opened 10x more gates then in combat.
I don't know about this 'fairly short time they close again' thing on the 360. I made maybe 70 fully-loaded runs between Beta Centauri and Keck before buying my Trident Battlecruiser, and never once had to reopen a gate.
I've seen a few that reclosed, but so far none that mattered. I have more that I never visited at all...
Was going to get both but played the Trial of Flock. Don't even think I would have spent 800 on it. Will just wait for PQ to drop or maybe buy it on a different system.. I'm in no rush to play it.
