"Guided first-person experience?" Hold on, let me fire up my bollocks filter. Hummm, ah, you mean "rail shooter!"

They must think "rail-shooter" is a dirty word, because he really was doing all he could to not use it.

There's nothing wrong with Rail-Shooter. There is something wrong when you don't have a light gun! Aim where I point, you stupid wii!

Looking good... fire effects look nice... Dead Space is one of my favorite games on the 360, and playing a prequel on the Wii is good. At least EA is doing an original game and not a downgraded port.

I don't know. I would usually agree with you, but the rail shooter is getting to be a crowded genre on the Wii, also I'd love to play a downgraded Wii port of Dead Space with the IR controls (just like RE4Wiimake).

That being said it looks a step above your average rail shooter, and it seems to be coming along nicely. Here's to hoping that Extraction can muster up as much fun as the original.

Rail-shooter getting to be a crowded genre on the Wii? What? Feel like I can count the # of big rail-shooter games on the Wii using only one of my two fingered hands.

yes, 5 games is very crowded. Thats like, half of what you'd find at an arcade back in the day

Fernando, I agree it looks pretty good. People need to accept that the Wii doesn't have the graphics power of the other consoles and so that isn't the way to measure the games. It can't be a Wii vs PS360 issue all the time. For a Wii title I think it looks pretty darn good and looks like it might be a fun play.

I would play it, if I still had a wii. Stupid nintendo, making me re-want your system. Release an HD version of the console and Im back in. It doesn't have to be amazing graphics, I just want what that 720p emulator did.

@Markez: Sure, but you can count the number of high-quality M-rated games that *aren't* rail shooters on one finger. (And maybe then put that finger to good use at Nintendo for not publishing Fatal Frame outside Japan...)

Okay, I'm exaggerating. But rail shooters are still out of proportion.

I don't have a problem with rail shooters (and will probably buy this one if it lives up to the promise and has a long play time; same for the new Umbrella Chronicles) but I do have a problem that we barely get any other games - and particularly that two similar series that both 'ought' to be full-control survival horror titles have both devolved into rail shooters on Wii.

Lack of shadows and stuff makes a big difference. Anyway, I think this could be a half decent alternative to the "real" version.

Looks surprisingly decent. Can't say I'm super interested, but it doesn't look bad by any means.

I got a chuckle out of him saying "guided first-person experience" multiple times though. I know they don't want to just flatout say "rail shooter", but that has to be some of the most blatant double speak I've ever heard.

An on-rails shooter is not a new experience on the Wii. A free moving game on the Wii would be a newer experience these days! LOL.

It means you can fire 2 diff ways with each weapon. The fire weapon can be used normally as a flamethrower.

The alternate mode shoots fireballs. Apparently, to engage it, you hold the wiimote sideways, gangsta-style (seriously).

These guys sure are in love with their story.

"We get to deliver an all new piece of the story, where OTHER guys run around a shoot stuff. It's not like that guy in the PS3/360 game running around and shooting stuff . . it's a WHOLE OTHER GUY!

. . . I mean, it looks like that first guy because he wears the same suit, but as you play you know in your mind that it's a COMPLETELY different guy."

It's a RAIL SHOOTER, for fuck's sake. Calling this game a "guided first person experience" is like calling a janitor a "Facility Manager" or a cleaning lady a "Environment Improvement Technician". Christ.

Decent looking rail shooter, but still a rail shooter.

Perhaps you can look around with the analog stick and shoot with the Wiimote. And if not, why don't they do that with a rail shooter? Maybe a 120-180 range of looking around, but still a rail shooter.

They do do that with 'a rail shooter' - that's how Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles works (although it probably doesn't give you the full 180 degrees you're talking about - it's more of a 'look to one side slightly'). Being able to look around gives you a slightly better chance to get pickups, or finish off bad guys that are on the ground or whatever.

While it was a nice feature I don't think it added that much really. You still aren't in control.

I guess it would just kind of give you the illusion of control, but that's true for nearly all video games and their linear nature. Most people just don't it to be obvious that they're along a set, guided path.

Should be better for atmosphere, since they can now perfectly control the rate at which you experience things

Though freedom is preferable, it'll be interesting to see how this game really works. Another on the watch-list for E3, i suppose.

It will be atmospheric, and by atmospheric I mean they will use the on-rails gameplay to make necromorphs constantly appear behind you at startling times.

So with "Insert coin to begin" style instant-join co-op mode, does this mean I can play the game as two characters by going at the screen Wiimotes-akimbo?

Also, I hope it has a left-handed mode if it requires Wiimote rotation for alternate fire mode, otherwise they're going to have some annoyed players.

Addendum to my Also, Dead Space monsters look really strange without any shadows.

I think it looks really good. The advantage of doing it as on "rails" that I can see it the enemies look a lot faster, which could make it just as, if not more exciting/scary. I haven't bought a Wii game in a while, but this I think I will.

I am a dead space fan, they could have made this game so horrible and i would still buy it thats how much of a fan i am, dont get me wrong the graphics are pretty awsome especially since its for the wii the wii graphics are mostly gay so i am grateful that they made this game pretty good

The one thing that i hate the most is the fact they made this a rail shooter it takes away most of the emotion of this game.
