Fallout 3 dominates MI6 marketing awards
Critical acclaim is a swell bullet point for the back of a box, but, really, who bases their buying decisions on what the so-called "experts" have to say? Let's face it, we buy certain games because they're staring us down every which way we turn -- on the internet, on the TV, on the frickin' subway -- and because, well, sometimes we're just suckers for the ol' "Chotchkie" Editions. And, while we might curse the thought of marketing (and our powerlessness against it), the MI6 Awards celebrates this integral component of the game industry machine.
So, just this once, let's all give a hand to the brilliant minds that so craftily offered us many, many valuable opportunities to ride their hype waves all the way to the checkout last year. View the complete list of awards and "Gold Winners" (no euphemism necessary, huh?) after the break.

+1 For Subliminal Advertising
Comtar @ Apr 9th 2009 11:20PM
There is nothing there...
Nothing at all.
Ignatius @ Apr 9th 2009 11:45PM
That was creepy. I didn't know what the hell that was for a second.
BigD145 @ Apr 10th 2009 12:35AM

Skaz @ Apr 10th 2009 12:45AM
I want this all of a sudden for some reason.
Rabidkeebler @ Apr 10th 2009 8:32AM
I don't know but for some reason I feel like going out and getting a second and third copy...
Markez @ Apr 9th 2009 11:20PM
Hadn't seen that Fable II commercial before, pretty neat. Don't see game advertisements using live actors like that too often.
Mister Bogus (Mr. ESC) @ Apr 9th 2009 11:47PM
I never watched it before but bravo MS marketing department you have done it again.
But why Evil characters always look better than good ones? I mean Gandalf ain't bad but it doesn't stand a chance against my character The Evil Emperor (Who's evil reign was better received than expected, note to self: never give tax cuts and incentives to small buisness if you want to be evil)
shredhead @ Apr 10th 2009 1:25AM
I suddenly have an urge to buy the Fallout 3 collectors edition...
Mister Bogus (Mr. ESC) @ Apr 9th 2009 11:41PM
Totally worth it and you can use it as a lunchbox too.It would only be better if it included the soundtrack.Fallout music is just beautiful.
The worst collector edition package award should go to COD W@W,A canteen that can not be used as a canteen, you have to fracking kidding me.
Cosmo @ Apr 10th 2009 12:18AM
I'm holding out for buying the CE and waiting for perhaps a version with all the DLC bundled with it later this year, though it probably wouldn't come with the lunchbox and bobblehead.
Popfrogs @ Apr 10th 2009 3:18PM
The boys the wittiest, the girls the prettiest, way back home. *sigh* Between that song, Butcher Pete and that upbeat clarinet-heavy tune, I could listen to Fallout 3 forever.
pat1202003 @ Apr 9th 2009 11:29PM
OMG it spoke to me! Now I have to buy it.
Premature ejaculation man @ Apr 9th 2009 11:31PM
If a Joystiq image tells me to do something, I do it.
rkrocks123 @ Apr 9th 2009 11:54PM
Way to make me think I've gone insane...
Mazrael @ Apr 10th 2009 12:28AM
I've just spent the last 4 hours finishing Dead Space on Impossible...
****Spoiler****
Finding out I've been hallucinating about about a girlfriend
****End of Spoiler****
& it's past 5am now so I'm tired.. just for words flicking on a picture.. so I'm gonna ignore it, cos all I've heard from mates is that (although the VATs system keeps you entertained long enough to beat the game), the game is just very bland...
Mister Bogus (Mr. ESC) @ Apr 10th 2009 12:52AM
Maybe if you read the story...
Part of what makes Fallout 3 great is the story, maybe you haven't paid attention. After beating the story mode go to Andale, bricks will be shat.
I found Fallout 3 very immersive but you have to walk into it with the right mind into it otherwise it can get boring.
***Spoilers***
Talking about story that was very predictable even with the spoilers (F*cking x360achievements.org a thread said in caps "Dead Space:hey guis ded wife lulz" in the front page)and the game gives you a lot of hints,I mean a lot but impossible makes the game a lot better,it lives to the survival horror name on impossible.
Josh @ Apr 10th 2009 12:17AM
This was the first and, to date, ever collectors edition of a game I've bought. Awesome lunchbox and a bobblehead! I even pre-ordered it through Gamestop. Thats how much I wanted this. A pre-order through Gamestop.
Hydrophobicfish @ Apr 10th 2009 2:19AM
Now THAT'S dedication.
I'm sorry that you had to go through Gamestop.
GewurztraminerX @ Apr 10th 2009 7:10AM
I knew almost nothing about Fallout 3 before this week (really, it's a RPG?!). Must buy now. I blame joystiq.
The Dark Wayne @ Apr 10th 2009 9:54AM
Ha! Your subliminal advertising is useless! I already bought mine!
Premature ejaculation man @ Apr 10th 2009 10:45AM
Wouldn't two, or even three be better than having just one? Surely someone like you can afford it.
I think you should do what the image says Dark Wayne...
DEEZNUTZ @ Apr 10th 2009 10:44AM
+1 for the Fight Club reference.
I Like Corn @ Apr 11th 2009 1:17AM
I own Fallout 3.
...though, only on the 360. Surely, my PC could use a copy too....
