Perfect Dark > Goldeneye.

Deep down, you know it's true.

Deep down, I know that after unloading charged up double Maulers into some cheap son of a bitch parked in a corner, thinking he's alone with a Farsight, that he deserved it. Deep down, I'll always know that.

Thats like saying the son is better than the father, I think what you mean is Perfect Dark just fix Goldeneye's flaws and introduced some awesome ideas.

Regardless, this is a time to rejoice!

Oh wow, please let this be true. Remake the game, except change the aiming to make sense for this generation and give it online multiplayer and ranked matchmaking. One of my friends at college here went to elementary school with me and we both have fond memories of late night Goldeneye and PD multiplayer sessions. Being able to recreate that over Live would be amazing.

I totally agree with you, Perfect Dark 64 has to be my all time favorite game.

I would love this so much as an XBLA game with online play.

4 players + 12 bots = awesome.

I played GoldenEye on the 64 lately. It was completely unplayable now for me.

Also while I loved Perfect Dark I found a glitch in the game where the farsight if pointed on the radar at an opponent will start aimed right on them when you zoom in so a quick double button press kills them without aiming. As soon as they appear on the radar they're dead. I would hope that they would fix that.

Deep down, I know that playing first person shooters with a Nintendo 64 controller is rubbish, and I'd love the opportunity to play both of these games with a REAL controller...

There is a significantly high chance i will buy an Xbox 360 if this is true. My only beef is playing the game with dual-analog controls *shudders uncontrollably, vomiting everywhere*

What? The original had a dual analog-esque alternative control scheme (analog stick to aim, c-pad to move).

Foetoid, you could play Perfect Dark on N64 with Dual-Analog controls. What you'd do is plug in two controllers and select the proper option. I believe it's control style 2.1-2.4.

I've played with it, and it's fun. I've also mapped an Xbox 360 controller to do the proper dual-analog controls on an N64 emulator. It's truly a joy to play. Plus, with the emulator, you can enable the hi-res mode in the options and any given widescreen option you prefer. Of course, you could do that on the N64, it just wasn't as spectacular.

I recommend playing Perfect Dark with two controllers. It's a trip.

It's not too hard to spot when you have the high-resolution version:

http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq155/Brothersic/Main.jpg

There's also some strange things to be found in these other screenshots, also taken from forums.banjo-kazooie.com :

http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq155/Brothersic/SelectingTheme.jpg
http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq155/Brothersic/Friendsarea.jpg

It's Rare being Rare, as usual. Nothing confirmed or denied, but nonetheless the fans leap onto the dream hype machine with some careful teasing and prodding.

On top of THAT, the Easter trailer for Banjo-Tooie XBLA is due out in a matter of hours, which is promised to tie in with some time-limited Gamerpics (of Stop n' Swop items) released alongside it. Looks like there's more "humorous japes" still to be had.

No. All of Rare's M-rated efforts were self-published on the Nintendo platforms. Nintendo had nothing to do with this one (unlike Goldeneye)

Nintendo have nothing to do with Goldeneye either, Rare kept the rights to ALL of their games. Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, Blast Corps, etc. The only one they don't keep is Donkey Kong, for obvious reasons.

It was Activision that stopped the 360 port of Goldeneye, allegedly after Nintendo gave them a serious talking to.

wow, what would that mean for the bigger picture? N64 games on a MS game machine. I guess there's some money to be made there since the economic downturn, maybe padding your account isn't a bad idea.

what a weird world.

Xbox developers have access to a 'different' Xbox Live that we mortals cannot touch; it allows them to beta-test their online features with other developers, and has a separate username list (so searching for their profile on xbox.com won't help much).

At best, this fellow has genuinely played a Perfect Dark XBLA beta build, at worst it's the work of photoshop or a 'dummy' game with that particular icon assigned to it.

I've been wanting to revisit PD lately, but everytime I start playing, the low resolution and framerate keep me away. This will be absolutely amazing if it's true. Here's hoping they keep all the features in the game. Hey, maybe Rare will work a little magic and (re)apply the facial mapping that was going to be in the game. Should be easy enough with the Live vision camera.

%&^$ rare, they suck as a company and don't listen to fans in the slightest. they have at least 5 major IPs that kick ass and have for a long time yet they continue making viva pinatas and banjo horse crap. one more time #$%$ RARE. keep makiing kiddie games ya fools

P.S. perfect dark is a POS in comparison to goldeneye. perfect dark is cool still though.. merely comparison

killer instinct is a pretty fantastic fighting game... or was anyway...

goldeneye
perfect dark
donkey kong
star fox
battletoads

older games that i personally enjoy that maybe dont have a huge following
rc proam
wizards & warriors
california games
off-road

i thought cobra triangle and silent service were some good games for nes too

there are plenty of games that they made.. 5 is just a random number i pulled out of the air. either way its clear to me rare sucks at making what the people want. instead they make a bunch of weak kiddie style games like banjo and viva like they are the in thing.. instead maybe they should try sticking with their good IPs. usually when the masses clamor for a game a smart company complies knowing the money is there at the end of the rainbow for them

They don't own Donkey Kong or Star Fox. They just ruined them. They don't own James Bond, either.

They could potentially make a good new Battletoads, though.
