Awesome! Now if they would allow a family to use VC games to be purchased once and played on both systems in their house, those of us boycotting for that will buy a crapload of games too. One big problem down, one to go.

And then people would only buy games ONLY ONE TIME, and just share it with all their friends' and families' Wiis... and then sales would plummet.
Oh the irony.

I said allow it on two Wiis registered on one account, not any Wii that you log into. Sales would increase, just like they did for the SD card solution. I can share a game with my kids using physical media. Why shouldn't I be able to share it with them using downloaded media?

Well... I wouldn't hold my breath. Are there really that many other people who have this issue, besides yourself?

If they locked it to one account, then people would just register their friends' Wiis under their own account. I would definitely register my nibling's Wii under my account if it meant that we could share all the VC games. I really don't think there are that many families that own two Wiis, and the ones that do probably just walk into the other room when they want to play the Wii that has all the VC games on it.

Households with multiple Wii's are probably a sliver of the population. If you want to play a game that's on the other Wii, just walk into your other room to use it, or swap the systems. You don't even have to move any cables. If you can afford another Wii, you can afford another copy of Sonic the Hedgehog.

I think you make a good point LokeSTL, but like Dreganfyre said, I wouldnt hold my beath..

Digital distrabution means less and less control and that SHOULD bother people..

@Adolph

It's not about being rich or not(which I'm not). At least come up with an intelligent reason that you don't agree with me. This same thing is becoming a problem with digital media. Itunes songs being locked to a single device, movies locked to the PS3, the "Digital Copy" that comes with some movies getting locked to one device.... Do you want to have to buy a movie again every time you want to watch it on a different TV?

@TwEE

I hear you, but nothing will ever get done about it if no-one speaks out against it. I refuse to be nickel and dimed to death because these companies have suckered the masses into believing that they are doing this to resist piracy. Don't be sheep people! There are a hundred different ways to allow you to play media on all of your devices without leaving them wide open for pirates. One of them being device registry, which is easily done. All I'm asking Nintendo to do hear is allow me to register two devices to my shop account and allow the games to run on both of them. Not rocket science. I can even produce receipts for both of them. If they wanted they could even include a network search in a firmware update to to verify that both consoles are on the same network. I could go on, but I think I have clearly made my point. Sure, I may never get what I want. But that's not going to stop me from asking for it or complaining about it.

i hear ya LokeSTL. still, i probably wouldn't hold my breathe on it but you're right, there are ways WiiWare digital distribution could be done better. i know that on PS3, i can log into my PSN account on another PS3 and redownload something i downloaded from the PSN store for free. only downside to that is that it's meant as a fall safe for if you loose your data somehow, thus you can only do it 5 times. i remember i gave my friend a copy of Beats i had downloaded for my PSP off of the PSN (which is actually exactly what Nintendo is trying prevent with it's store model).

i love the convenience of digital distribution but i absolutely hate the lose of flexibility. things this gen have changed so much, it's really not even practical to share games with friends at all anymore. i mean, most games don't have local split screen anymore, any game you download you can't take with you without lugging the whole console, alot of times i have to wait for an update to download before i can even play, it's a hassle to move game saves around if we're playing 360, and (at least on PS3) i have to wait for the game to install to the hard drive some of the time. we really do need to stand up against this because we are loosing control of our games, but people have embraced this model for the most part (for whatever reason) so what can we really do?

Finally.
You people and refusing to delete games you don't even play anymore.
I seriously wonder how many people *REALLY* DID PLAY ALL THE GAMES ON THEIR MEMORY-FULL WII EVERY WEEK.

...and then came the complaints of transferring time. Except, no wait: That was resolved with the update that made transferring like 10x faster!

......... so now you guys have got your solution, I'm glad you're doing something with it.

The irony of all this is that the DSi will have the same problem, because for some genius reason, they decided to ship the DSi with only the ability to play games off it's internal memory and not the SD card.

GENIUS!

Can't wait till GDC 2010 to go through the same got damn problem.

Yes I have. When you copy over a DSWare game (I used the Art Style game), I can't run it from the DS.

To make sure, I deleted the version on the main memory, and there was nothing. No icon or anything to let me run the game from my SD card.
So unless I'm missing something, Nintendo isn't really thinking ahead that well.

That means the whole issue the Wii had with storage space will happen all over again on the DSi.

As soon as it was released I moved things around to make space on my Wii and started buying titles again. To the one person who says it wasn't hard - maybe it wasn't - but it was annoying and stupid. I think most of the things I wasn't using was the Nintendo channels, and now that the update for SD cards has it, I'm checking out old ones to see what is going on.

To conclude - It was dumb - now it is okay.

If they stick with SD memory on the next wii- you should be able to expand it yourself.

I've only played the first two strong bad games for this very reason... my storage was full, and there were rumors (and then an actual announcement) that playing games from SD card would be showing up eventually, so i put off purchasing the rest of the games until now. (and I had a ton of other games to play while I waited)

I definintely expect to buy more WiiWare and VC games now.

I have to fully agree with others about the SD storage solution. Since that's come out, I'm one that has finally picked up the first chapter of SBCG4AP. Once that's finished, I'll continue buying the others. I've also started back buying at least one WiiWare/VC game a week now, each payday, since the storage was opened up. It wasn't hard shoveling stuff around between the Wii and SD, but it was just so annoying that I finally just gave up on it and waited. Nintendo has certainly started pulling in more of my money since they opened up the SD card. :) Today, time to get LIT when I get home, I think. :)
