"Konami's other arcade ventures haven't been all that solid"

Well... I sure loved to play The Simpsons Arcade, every itineration of the TMNT Arcade games and the X-Men arcade game, Gradius, Super Contra, etc...

That's what I was thinking. I think Konami had a solid arcade hit with DDR.

As long as it's nothing like "SNAKE'S REVENGE"...

Eh, I'll stop that line of thought right there. My 'prediction' is that it will probably be you playing a Force XXI trial operative *coughRaidencough* going through the VR missions (or "Snake Tales" from MGS2) in an arcade setting.

Poor konami.. having to resort to shitty spin-offs due to MGS4 exclusivity on the PS3.

USA is not the entire world. Arcades are very popular in some countries.

Dave & Busters and GameWorks, the arcades for adults, are like bars but with video games. It's awesome.

Actually Konami don have to do it just because the game was exclusively for the PS3. MGS is an amazing game and MGS4 made them plenty of money. They just want to expand the series cause the series itself basically prints money. Why not make other titles or spin offs to make Mt. Money Maker bigger. Its just greed really. They saw how well the series did and there just hungry 4 more money.

Why do people always complain when a company invests millions into a product and hope to get as much as the can back? Majority of the people that are employed wish they made more money or believe the deserve more than they make. Why shouldn't konomi want to make lots of money off a successful IP they helped develop?

Hmm, I wonder if this is intentional on Konami's part, seeing how Taito (Square Enix) has Half Life 2 for the arcade.

Either way, it's nice to see Konami feature something else in the arcade, beside Bemani games (DDR, GuitarFreaks, drummania, beatmania IIDX, pop'n music).

Yeah, man. Konami certainly doesn't have any arcade hits. They just have 4 of the top 10 most popular arcade games in Japan (Beatmania IIDX, Pop'n Music, Guitar Freaks, and Drummania) and DDR still has new entries.

And they certainly weren't responsible for nearly every great beat'em up.

Oh of course not.

Thanks.

Twin Snakes is crap.

Also I think the Joystiq guys are meaning RECENT arcade games (Silent Hill, etc). I'm sure this will suck as bad as MGS Touch though. The whole concept of what Metal Gear was is dead as of MGS4 anyway
