In before "lawwl resellling same songs GH suckz!"

Anyway, I feel sorry for all those tweens who spent an entire year to perfect TFF. Now they have to do it all over again!

why didn't they do what harmonix did with RB2 where you can download all the songs from RB1 to RB2 for 5 bucks??

BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, they have to release another guitar hero game for more money.

I don't know who's more greedy: activision or capcom.

GET OVER THE SWITCHING DISCS!!

It's a music game putting out MORE content! I love both Guitar Hero AND Rock Band because the respective companies keep putting out more tracks (Metallica Edition kicks ass!).

"Well,I want to be able to import my songs to the hard drive"

Well,I want all DLC to be free since you already bought and are supporting the game, but it isn't going to happen. It's a nice fantasy.

I'd so much rather having one complete collection of songs for faster playing and faster organizing. There is absolutely no reason why they have to keep spitting out Guitar Hero games every couple of months. The market is quickly becoming way too oversaturated with rhythm games, largely in part due to Guitar Hero.

Guitar Hero is going to be the killer of the music genre, I'll call it right now.

How is Guitar Hero putting out new content via disc any different than Rock Band putting out new content via DLC?

What? A physical box? Are you kidding me?

With DLC, it's all organized under one game. With physical games, it's split up, requires leaving the convenience of your own home, part of the cost goes towards manufacture+shipping costs of the discs, and there's fewer choices for the consumer (discs are all or nothing while DLC allows you to choose individual songs.) It's a matter of convenience. Also, sorry for the shoddy grammar, I'm typing this on my iPod while on the crapper lol.

You're a joke OTAM...This argument goes down in every single GH/RB thread.

With rockband DLC you can choose from a selection of songs, you don't have to buy them in bulk for $60, you can just buy a track or two for a few bucks.

I like free bird, but i simply cannot stand the pounding and nonsense of dragon force, so if they were available for DLC, i could download what I want to download, and not have to put up with the crap that comes along with certain discs.

That being said, Smash hits is probably the smartest thing activision has done for GH in a while...even though you can compare it to Rockband 1...which lets you transfer all of the songs from RB1 to RB2 .

Plus the organization of all of the songs, which was already mentioned.

Again Cookie Monster,

"Well,I want all DLC to be free since you already bought and are supporting the game, but it isn't going to happen. It's a nice fantasy."

Meaning, you buy all the songs with Guitar Hero, and that's the way it is. Buy it or don't,but don't shit on everyone else's parade who actually DO buy the discs (like me).

I also download music on the Rock Band store as well on my PS3,in case you're wondering.

"It isn't going to happen. It's a nice fantasy."
This distills what's basically wrong with the argument. Saying you want to be able to play all of your songs off a single platform, the harddrive your console has in it precisely for such storage solutions, is not a fantastical request. It is, as you already know, the general policy of Guitar Hero's competitor. This isn't a technical hurdle, or an idealistic fantasy. It's possible, but Activision has (so far) chosen not to allow it. This could literally be reversed at any time, at their pleasure.
Instead of feeling exploited by this decision, you're making excuses for disc-swapping like it's some tough reality, and you aren't a pussy so you put up with it, as if you enjoy the inconvenient lulls that their policy imposes on rhythm game parties. There's just nothing to be gained out of putting up with stupid crap when better solutions exist for an equivalent price.

It's not stupid crap to me. To me,it's not even an issue,it's more content that takes 4 seconds to switch a disc. It doesn't even fire off as a "bad" thing in my brain. It's like breathing oxygen,I just do it like it's normal.

More Guitar Hero games/DLC and more Rock Band games/DLC! There's more songs to be played!

otam I understand were your coming from but try to understand were I am coming from.Usually when i am playing rock band it's with a full room of people, i am talking about 10 to 20 people all taking turns. As soon as someone wants to switch games that's pretty much the end of the little party as everyone loses interest.

I don't play career/band modes and I don't play it as a party game. I just turn it on,use the unlock all songs code and go right to quick play.

If you aren't using it for parties than more power to you. I'd love to see a video of someone transitioning from one game to another in 4 seconds though. :P

laff, horrible. two of their five highlight songs are already in Rock Band and there's no telling how many of the other songs will be as well or have already been licensed by Harmonix. I"m not going to buy another $60 game for 7-10 songs that I actually want. GH:M burned me like that and it won't happen again, ever.

its nice getting a new disc game since the price per track is significantly lower (around 80 cents a track) sure there are a few songs you might not want, but often times you will discover songs you would have otherwise never heard.

i am thoroughly pissed no bonus songs will be in this fucking game though.. i was really looking forward to jordan..

its bs my guitar or ps3(or whoever you would like to blame) does not work with guitar hero 1 and 2 because i already own both the $%#ers

Not everyone has an internet connection, or access to XBM/PSN.

Even though I don't qualify under this, I still prefer GH and all the disc swaps simply because it's hard for me to distinguish a real note from a hammer-on in RB2.

I may be blind, but at least Activision has my back more than Harmonix.

Wait, I'm sorry - how would knowing what a hammer-on is have anything to do with being able to access an online menu to purchase and download songs? - because that's the basic idea I got from your post.

Feel free to correct me. I'd also like to know how Activision 'has your back' in regards to this subject. I didn't know 'forcing users to re-purchase the same songs on relatively expensive physical media' was 'getting your back'.
