Now Maxis might be able to produce something worthwhile instead of putting out trash like Spore.

After Spore - I dont really care what Will Wright does, because I do not have anymore faith in him. What is fun to him sure is not fun to me.

Dunno, Spore was kinda shallow, and the SecuROM hurt it alot. But the tech underneath is amazing and I hope it get's picked up.
Procedural texture's have been around for years, but Procedural animation is like "Woah!". Spore open's up complex games and AI coming to really low powered stuff. Okay it doesn't deal with the graphic's so much ( though Procedural texturing kinda had that wrapped up, but game artist's don't like to use it) but it is could allow so much customization in games. for example in WoW you make a new character you can make the head big or small, make him Buff, weedy, fat whatever. cos it'll still Rig easily on a biped standard skeleton. But now it's not just a case of being fat or slim, but where the head is how many arm's, and the rigging and envelopes n stuff just doesn't matter.

It wasn't all Will. He had a few people convincing him of "good" ideas.

I'm glad that a man who has innovated sandbox gaming and player creativity is getting out of the tech game and into creating cross-media IPs. I can't wait to see what compelling narratives come from the mind that brought us characters like "Person who lives in a house and has bowel movements", "City Planner" or "Creature that eats".

This article didn't get me excited about anything Will Wright does, but it DID make me wonder what LucasArts is up to.

...MI5 perhaps?

Well, I can dream.
