An incident involving a supposed "MEGATON~!" that ended up getting blown out of proportion, a time machine, and a contraceptive. (Note: Only one of these items is true).

Although it'll be a moot point when Joystiq acquires ******. The delicious tears will raise the sea level by a good 2 feet.

Yeah, I figured it was that.

How buttsore must the GAF mods be if they're still banning Joystiq for something that happened three centuries ago?

Also, I have know if ****** is NeoGAF or Kotaku.

The former. Gawker won't let Kotaku go for love, money or hookers.

No one would want Kotaku or GAF. How do you monetize that? It's just like Digg. Any attempt to monetize would instantly have the user base pissed off, and you'd have to revert (see: Face Book TOS fiasco, the ongoing Digg Bar fiasco, etc).

GAF is worse than /v/ though. If you don't agree with the mods, you might as well leave before the ban hammer comes down (because it will). AVSforum is probably the only forum I've ever visited where the mods actually mod for content and to keep things on topic, instead of modding to make sure no dissenting opinions appear.

Kotaku is fucking terrible. Most of the posters here I don't agree with make me shake my head, but people on Kotaku (writers included) make me literally angry. I rarely feel that way here. And I don't want to feel that way from a website, it makes me rather upset with myself.

The majority of my anger towards Kotaku and their posters is their freakish, perverted fetish towards anything related to Japan or anime - I see that type of person in Japan once in a while, and it's just... gross.

What's with all the love Joystiq has been showing them as of late, anyway? If I recall correctly (and a lot of the time, I don't), posts mentioning Kotaku got deleted - now Joystiq articles are actively linking to them?

They are awful.

After viewing the thread, I think the industry should come inline with these great box art examples. Some of them really capture the essence of the game to the point that I'm convinced they would reach out to a much larger audience if re-released.

Like most things at GAF, it's a terrible cesspool run by a fat fuck named Amirox and a transsexual ugly bitch by the name of Dragona and the girl no one wants to touch Red Scarlet.

And they like to steal stuff and claim it's yours from 4chan and Something Awful.

Just a terrible forum, run by ugly people and a fatty whose so fat he couldn't fit on any rides at Great Escape (true story)

That'd make a fantastic Photoshop Phriday at Something Awful... "Fat Fucks on Thrill Rides".

I noticed in one of the posts with a picture, the artist was told to put the "G" logo on it. It made me a little sad because if he didn't, I am guessing his post would have gotten deleted.

Some of these are really, really good. Some people totally get it.
...erm...but probably most (about 60%) of them don't, sadly :/

Being able to partake in stuff like this makes me wish my account on NeoGaf was activated.

I refuse to go through any sort of effort to join NeoGAF; they don't allow Gmail accounts, and Gmail is awesome.

Anyone else find it weird that "Joystiq" is a banned word on Gaf? Go on and try it. Anyways, going to post something to that thread for sure.

NeoGAF are Nazis about free emails. So I can't sign up... so here is my very good entry into it... I think I'd be in the highlights personally.

I don't have the link but someone else out there might, but there's a forum full of graphic designers who have an ongoing thread where each week they all design promo posters for different games. They've been doing it for a while now so there are a lot of games that it's been done for and some of them are just unbelievable.

With their SF4 and Braid ones alone there were about 50 posters that I would have paid good money for were they actually sold in real form.
