Upon seeing Sega's latest teaser website, featuring a bright blue sky replete with white, fluffy clouds, you'd be forgiven for hoping that it might have something to do with a new Skies of Arcadia. Alas, such dreams are dashed rather quickly by the text seen above. No, this is a teaser site for a new Shining Force title. Given the state of the Shining series lately, you'd be forgiven for not being terribly excited.
The site doesn't reveal any pertinent information about the title -- including what the title actually is -- only referring to it as the latest installment of the Shining Force series and offering the date April 17, 2009. We'll just get everyone's hopes up by saying it's probably a fully localized DS port of all three episodes of Shining Force III*.
*That's totally not what it is**.
**Probably.

Indeed..I missed that game. And to think I never even get to finish it! (My Dreamcast + the disc died half way through the game. Let's just say I got lot, a lot.. to the point that all of my characters were at max level before the first half of the game).

While I loved Skies, Shining Force wins my excitement far more.

Guess I'm one of the few that are still fans of the Shinning Force Series. I haven't played III and beyond though. But I'd be excited for another Shinning Force game.

im in the same boat he is, when i saw this news i about shit a brick, this is fucking awesome to me. are the newest ones really all that bad? did any of them come to america?
honestly i would be extremely happy with like a renewed XBLA/PSN version of the first 2 games, and i would be REALLY happy if they could do the same with SF3, never got to play it, it goes for over $100 on ebay, screw that. (no ROMS, ive tried, never works)

I was about to say "Psh, author doesn't know what he's talking about. Shining Force != Shining series."
I'm one of those people with really fond memories of Shining Force, but looking over the history now it seems like there have been a lot of really crappy Shining Force titles released that I haven't played. It was really just the first two that were good.
Shining Force 3 was a huge disappointment (and playing three times as much wouldn't make it any better), the first Game Gear game was nothing but combat, and the rest, which I haven't played, got almost uniformly poor reviews.

I was under the impression that all the shitty titles were merely part of the "Shining" series (Shining Soul, Shining Tears, etc.). Are there any "Shining Force" games other than the original 3 quality SRPGs?

Yes. Shining Force CD, which is a collection of the Game Gear Shining Forces.

Is it possibly that game Shining Force Feather? I haven't heard much on that lately.... I wouldn't mind a HD console Shining Force though. Man! Now I really want to play the original again.... I'ma buy that collection disc...

I recently tried to get into SF3 on a Saturn emulator, and man, it's hard to play nowadays =s It's mostly because the game has the ass-iest 3D graphics, and whatnot.
That aside, it's probable that this will be another SF spin-off, that no one will care about.
What's up with Sega re-doing all their old games, but in ways that NO ONE asks for, like Sonic, etc.

Last SF games I played was two. Out of all the characters you get, I just ended up using Peter, Slade and myself to fight everything. The rest never kept up.

If you put time into Kiwi, he actually gets pretty good. Plus, promote your clerics to Master Monks and your Wizard to a Summoner. Then you have a dream team.

I had a few monks, but they weren't half slow. Most of the others I used as bait to draw enemies away from packs.

Shame the Shining games haven't been particularly good recently (IMO, don't shoot me) but the original three were still awesome enough to make me excited about this. *prays for Sega to not mess this up*
Isn't asking Sega not to mess up a classic franchise like asking Nintendo not to print money?
Yes, another article now ruined by that joke.

I wonder if they will ever make a real Shining Force game again? (SF, SF2, SF3) :-(
Shining Force 4, strategy RPG, for PS3 and/or 360, would be awesome. Flying pigs come to mind. :-(

Shining Force Feather looks to take the series in a fun direction. I'm still hoping that one gets localized.

I'm probably one of the few people that imported both the second and third scenarios of Shining Force 3 and played through them even though I couldn't understand what was going on. A DS version of those would my dream come try, though I would want to know ahead of time to put my Saturn copies up on ebay.

Can I have a DS version of Shining Wisdom? It was made by Camelot and Nintendo has them under their belts. Please? It's such a fun Zelda clone.

Shining Force I, II, III is one of the best series of RPG's ever made. Shining Force III Remake for 360 and PS3 = RPG of the year>>>>>>>>Final Fantasy,
@jynxycat - can you help me set up my Saturn Emulator with Shining Force III? If so get back to me and I will do my best to repay you.
@Everyone Else - Zylo, Musashi, Luke, Gort, Slade, Peter, Guntz, Hanzou, Zynk, Claude, Lemon, Zuika, Mawlock.......Are my favorite Characters of the SF Universe.
Hows bout you?
Its about time SF was announced. The other game people thought was announced is lame compared to this one. Its about damn time.
THANKS JOYSTIQ.
