Yeah, we know. Every Easter, we write up a historical account of well-hidden Easter eggs featured in video games over the years. You've heard them all by now, we're sure -- the guerrilla credits of Adventure, the "Secret Cow Level" in Diablo II, Yoshi's appearance in Super Mario 64, GTA IV's "Heart of the City," A Link to the Past's Chris Houlihan room, and Symphony of the Night's hidden audio track, to name a few. For more info about these tried and true surreptitious extras, we suggest checking out this GameSpot post.
However, this past year saw the arrival of a heretofore undiscovered Easter egg in a title you all know and love -- ladies and gentlemen, we present "The Goldeneye Breakdancing Glitch," viewable in the video after the jump. Apparently, tilting the Goldeneye cart in the middle of a game leads to hilarious impromptu b-boying from any and all on-screen characters. You simply must check it out -- and while you're down there, tell us your favorite video game Easter eggs in the comments!

I don't think anyone's pointed it out yet, but this is a meme from Nico Nico Douga where that song plays while a character flips out. I don't know how it started exactly, but there are plenty of Touhou versions. Then again, there are plenty of Touhou versions of everything.

RE4's Del Lago instant kill.
Good Lord, that one shocked me the most. And I didn't even know about it because I was screwing around and shooting the lake until BAM! He comes out and eats me. It was really scary (and yet funny) easter egg.

The Easter Egg is dying thanks to Achievements. Since most games have Achievements, most game designers skip easter eggs or cheat codes, because they don't want you to cheat your way to an Achievement.

Most Easter Eggs have nothing to do with achievements, except for ones that ARE achievements. Take Halo for example. Some eggs like skulls and terminals are achievements themselves, while things like the talking grunts, peeing brute, password arguement, man in boxers, etc. have no effect of achievements. And any eggs that do give advantages can simply not unlock achievements. GLITCHES are what people use to explit achievements, not eggs. And even still glitches(most) aren't hard to fix.

The GTA series has always been great for not only easter eggs, but continuity with easter eggs. Remember the actual easter egg that's in Vice City? It's in the same place again in Vice City Stories but only half-built.

Ratchet & Clank 3's Insomniac museum, even to this day no game can touch that.

I always liked H.T. Parnell's Fallout-reference in Arcanum, where he exhibits a (obviously faked) two-headed cow, which is a direct reference to the fallout-brahmin.
He also has one of the "world's smartest orcs" which is a possible companion if you convince him :P
