Sometimes a story comes along that's so odd it actually short-circuits the part of the Joystiq Hive Mind that's supposed to make fun of stuff. We've attacked Ghetto Golf, a thugged-out mix of street golfing and guns that's in need of a publisher, from every angle, but we're just not up to the task of being more entertaining or compelling than the news itself. So we'll give it to you straight.
Ghetto Golf is a planned downloadable tile being created by Illfonic, a game studio founded by one of the guys from Tony! Toni! Tone! Also, this line is in MTV Multiplayer's article about the game: "One of the playable scenes they showed involved the hero Vonte needing to use his exploding golf ball to blow up a car that someone was ghost-riding."
... Honestly, what are we supposed to do with that?

A good producer for the game. He can do it single handedly.

The only thing Soulja Boy can do single-handedly is between him and his computer.

How does this NOT have a a publisher?
why do i want this?
maybe it is due to the fact that I want to see how accurately said whips will be ghost-ridden upon golf ball explosion?

Anyone remember Outlaw Golf? A game devoted to raunchy, overt sexism and trailer park/stripper bar victory dances after a good "stroke" or "hole"? A dominatrix with a putter? What's so wrong about a golf cart with spinnin' rims, sittin' on 22's with the driver doing a drive-by? Both games are brazen stereotypes, both self-deprecating and overtly racist. Sounds like an average day at SNL.
No one thought Fiddy's "Blood in the Sand" game would be any good and look what happened there. We're supposed to be the group that looks beyond the veil. It might suck but let's at least give it a chance.

"Most say he's mellow, quite a nice fellow. Met three T's that could rhyme acopella, they had the rhythm, I had the rhyme, so then I hit it out one more time. It worked out they worked it in...Tony Toni Tone has done it again!"

I met the guys working on this, including Raphael Saadiq, and they were all really cool. I guess they're all out in Denver just grinding away on this. I saw some screens from it a few months ago and it looks like some Tiger Woods mixed with GTA, probably not so sandbox, of course, but not such a bad idea. Lots of options and weapons, different environments, sort of like playing golf across a neighborhood/backyards without permission. It actually reminded me of those youtube vids of city golf.
I'm open to see how it turns out.

fuck you Ill. I had already dismissed this as some kind of urban glorification game that suffers from attempting to be GTA but falling short.
Now I want to play it.

Blinged out golf ballsand clubs, groupy caddies, special "ghetto" related power moves, and yo' momma jokes. Anything else missing from what will be in this game?

This MUST happen on consoles! I couldn't run it on my PC but I loved the original Outlaw Golf games (sometimes presentation wins out over bad gameplay) and this looks like the kick in the ass that the hoity-toity sport of golf needs for this generation. Or a new Mario Golf.
