Konami's Puzzle Chronicles ... sounds familiar

The game appears to be Puzzle Quest, but jewels drop Tetris-style from the side. The title features online and offline versus modes and five minigames. Check out some of the screens below!

this reminds me to ask a very important question. is galactrix coming to PSP?
KFelon @ Apr 13th 2009 11:05PM
Hopefully this one is better than Craplactrix.
Uncontrol @ Apr 13th 2009 11:30PM
i returned my copy of galactrix DS and the guy said "yeah a lot of people have been complaining about this"
i got rune factory 2 instead :) i still love challenge of the warlords though
this looks kinda lame though
Blue_Falcon @ Apr 13th 2009 11:05PM
So they're retreading the same ground all the while making it look like a terrible flash game?
Sign me up for two copies, please.
Markez @ Apr 13th 2009 11:16PM
Yeah, that screen shot leaves a lot to be desired. At this point I would just like to see a Puzzle Quest sequel, or redux or something. I've been underwhelmed by the XBLA demo of Galactrix. +1 to that fella up there that called it Craplactrix :)
maskedrose @ Apr 13th 2009 11:24PM
ugh...
Puzzle quest is a game that hates you.. even when you seem to be winning... bam.. enemy gets a heroic effort and kicks your arse.
Then the thing broke on me... game really hates me.
But I'll buy it again for super cheap so I can continue to lose...
Will this game hate me just as much? Probably
Jeff @ Apr 14th 2009 11:48AM
Found it for 3$ at EB games a month ago and decided it was worth it, but I refused to buy it at full price from the PSN Store because of the unsolved companion bug.
Yingerman @ Apr 13th 2009 11:33PM
5th KONAMI GAME TODAY!
Alexisonfire @ Apr 13th 2009 11:41PM
A sorry case of a one trick pony ending up being killed and then beaten to a pulp.
Puzzle Quest was a great game spun from a new idea. The last thing it needed was for it to be remixed and repackaged in 20 different ways.
chispito @ Apr 14th 2009 3:38AM
Well this would be three ways.
Ugkul @ Apr 14th 2009 4:47AM
What new idea? Bejeweled has been around for ages.
Alexisonfire @ Apr 14th 2009 12:37PM
New idea as in the mixing of a bejeweled like puzzle game with RPG elements.
TX2 @ Apr 14th 2009 12:07AM
I just got the original puzzlequest earlier this year, and even after the hype of it's concept was long gone, I found this to be a great game.
Galaxtrics didn't look very good though, And honestly, most of these spinoffs and knockoffs look worse.
I'd much rather see someone go full force with the novelty of it all. Like a tetris Based puzzle game where the Tetris pieces are the heroes (Except for Zig Zag, which is the villain).
garnsr @ Apr 14th 2009 12:08AM
Shouldn't that be slide in from the side, not drop in?
Kairu Jutsu @ Apr 14th 2009 1:46AM
To each his own, lol.
Boff @ Apr 14th 2009 5:36AM
I thought that too! Physics my friend.
Drop from the top.
Slide from the side.
Ooo they rhymed too!
Courtney @ Apr 14th 2009 1:54AM
I've been playing Galactrix the last couple of nights on XBLA, so far it seems enjoyable enough. No, it doesn't quite live up to the original PQ, but all the parts are there and they still work.
Swiftor @ Apr 14th 2009 1:57AM
I'm very curious to see how Puzzle Chronicles turn out, the visuals aren't terribly important as long as the game play remains addictive.
As for the current offering... aside from the excessive gate hacking, I didn't think Galactrix was all that bad (although it was admittedly inferior to it's predecessor). If there was a patch that replaced hacking gates with defeating "gate keepers" I'd be much happier.
Dr Scientist @ Apr 14th 2009 3:40AM
The gate hacking definitely needs reworking, its the only part of the game I don't really like.
Bob @ Apr 14th 2009 1:08PM
I'm with you there. Comparatively, it doesn't measure up to Puzzle Quest, but it's enjoyable. The gate-hacking is monotonous, and I think it lacks the variety that Puzzle Quest had in its minigames, but for portable entertainment (I play it DS), I'm still glad I bought it.
The Tetris-variant might be fun. I do hope it's a bit more of a departure than Galactrix (which could have tweaked the formula a bit more).
ThomasJay @ Apr 14th 2009 5:42AM
Looks pretty craptastic, but I'll wait until I've played it to pass judgment. While i2 does seem to be cranking these things out faster than Octomom can squirt out kids, I'm actually looking forward to Puzzle Kingdoms.

"The game appears to be Puzzle Quest"SOLD!
Here's my wallet.
And my credit cards.
And feel free to kick me in the knees...
Hockle @ Apr 14th 2009 11:18AM
I'm a sucker for these games -- but I need to have symbols on the blocks as in both of the PQ offerings. I'm one of those guys that has a hard time with green and yellow. Stupid eyeballs...
ecco6t9 @ Apr 14th 2009 12:44PM
Sounds like Columns and with Sega uninterested in non Sonic games this is a good thing.
Alzheimers @ Apr 14th 2009 1:02PM
After Galactrix DS, these guys can FOADIAF
dswill79 @ Apr 14th 2009 2:09PM
Wow...I had to look that one up! I'm usually pretty good at those sorts of words, but thank you Urban Dictionary!
Robert @ Apr 14th 2009 2:51PM
hmm... i'll have to see how the reviews are and then decide if i want to pick this up, i really enjoyed the first PQ
TJF588 @ Apr 15th 2009 2:53AM
Damn, this reminds me of some old game I'd read/watched up on. I think it was for an old computer system, and was just burly d00dz (as in, no monsters). Damn, need to find that page... *intends to reply if/when it is foundeded*
