I was a big fan of the first one. I still play it from time to time. I hated the second one. I never could get to liking how the enemy moved a character when you moved a character. Too many times, you would move to a space next to a character and select attack, only to have the enemy move away while you're moving and you swung at nothing. Hopefully, they don't keep that system.

Here we go with a thousand people going OMFG YEAH! I CANT WAIT! then they will play it for a day and forget it. Just like all the other PSN and XBLA titles.

I can't speak for PSN but I've put more time into some of my XBLA games than I have many retail games. Here are a few that I've played for...ages...and still do play:

Carcassonne
Catan
Pinball FX
Marble Blast Ultra
GripShift
Geometry Wars (and the sequel)
Mega Man 9
Bionic Commando: Rearmed
Braid
Mutant Storm Empire
N+
Switchball
Lumines Live!

And that doesn't count ports of "full" games such as:

Duke Nukem 3D
Doom
Banjo-Kazooie
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Not to mention there are other great games (like Poker Smash) that are high quality, but just aren't to my tastes. Learn to play good games and not discount them because of file size, or whatever the reason is for your ignorance.

I love lists as much as the next person, but I really have never seen them prove anything in a Joystiq comment thread.

Maybe it's time we just stopped, okay? And by we, I mean you, listy listmakers.

Sadly, lists exist to prove people wrong whenever people say "there's not enough games" or "NO ONE ever plays these games".

Problem is, it pisses of the crowd in two ways:

1. The person who originally offended the listers, is now proven wrong in one account. Now he/she has to think of something witty to claim that they weren't implying what they said earlier - and the list-maker's retarded.

2. ...for everyone else: The list takes up a space when it comes to scrolling down. And for some odd reason, despite the fact that they claim it's no use - they still read most of it. And if they read most of it - it has accomplished exactly what it was made to do.

I have no problem with lists.
I DO have a problem with list wars... because no one ever listens to each other on those.

The screenshots look promising, but what's the deal with the stupid looking character portraits? They look really stupid and out of place, like they were taken off of some children's book cover.

yeah... none of the art style really does it for me. I know it's dated, but I like the old 16bit look they had in VH1 ...

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd rather control my party members myself instead of having some CPU do it.

There were CPU controlled party members in the first Vandal Hearts game. You sometimes had to watch out for their ass because the computer didn't have the best AI.

I'm sure not all the the characters beside the main character are AI.

I played the original, but man that was a long time ago....

Anyway, for a tactical/strategy RPG, the most frustrating thing can be when you have characters that you don't get to control (especially when you get already get to control some). I mean, does it really diminish the story (or some other rpg element) if we get to control all of our party members?

It's good to see this IP brought back. It's also good to see more SRPGs that aren't on handhelds.

However, having a CPU controlled party sounds like an awful idea. Is this really accurate?

I liked the VH2 a lot but from the screenshot the char looks too kiddy for me unless it is like one of those battles "from childhood" or something.. Also, i hoped they wouldve done a sequel not a prequel...

this will probably be terrible just like the previous 2 games. VH2 was easily the worst SRPG ever made.

also, forgot to mention, but it looks like it's made by some western developer, not the original japanese developers. if those screenshots are actually of the game.
that art style is almost disney-like.
