Video Games Live performing during E3
Offering a welcome distraction from the lights and sounds of E3 this June will be the ... lights and sounds of Video Games Live. Not to be confused with the annual event's newly re-embraced discord, the musical performance aims to strike a more harmonious chord with attendees when the show takes the stage at LA's Greek Theater on June 4.
Serving as E3's closing ceremony, the concert will include selections from such games as Chrono Trigger, Mega Man and Final Fantasy, as well as possible attendance by some "very special guests." Tickets are available through pre-sale for between $25 and $70. And for those unwilling to make the trek to E3, or for avid listeners with an unhealthy appetite for video game tuneage, a second performance alongside July's Comic Con in San Diego is also planned, promising "different material and different special guests."

I really don't think they can outdo last year, I mean, it was the motherfucking Who

I saw these guys maybe 2 or 3 years ago. It was a really chill experience and I encourage anybody who has the time and means to go to check it out.

Fantastically underwhelming. If you're in it for the music, expect to be disappointed. If you're in it to cheer at a screen because you recognize the game appearing on it, it'll be fantastic. The song selections are absolutely rubbish and while the performance is good (depending on the venue, of course) it's nothing you haven't hear before.

Sorry you had such a bad experience.
I went to their showing in Birmingham playing with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and it was fantastic.
I'm not too sure how their song selection could be much better, either. Songs from Halo to MGS to WoW easily rival movie productions, and earlier works (Mario, etc.) serve as a nostalgic reminder of the (fading) art of MIDI track composition.

I think it is a good choice - gaming centric musical entertainment paired with gaming centric convention. No brainier I suppose.

VGL was one of the most fun concerts I have ever been too. Not necessarily the most epic, or even the best, it was just a rousing good time from start to finish. I can't encourage people enough to check it out if they can.

Thank you Joystiq!
I had been watching the site and saw that the tickets were going on sale the 18th so i had been waiting to pick them up. I had no idea they had presale tickets being sold already and would have been very sad if i missed out on picking up good seats due to missing the presale information.
Instead i got amazing seats, so thanks!

Has VGL ever played any of the Ace Combat music? Some great stuff in those games
