Maybe to some people. I haven't played it, but I understand that it's a good franchise. I believe it's a stealth game, I think set in the middle ages.

yes its horrible, find Thief: Deadly Shadows on Xbox and play it on your 360, although the backwards compatibility does cause a few graphics glitches its worth playing. If you still have an old Xbox lying around then you must buy it, or computer actually.

honestly i'd have to say you should play them all and in order. you will have to get passed the graphics of the first two but they are all 3 very good games.
thief 1 has the best story, thief 2 the best level design, and thief 3 the best graphics
not that story or level design is bad in the others... thief 3 probably has the scariest level of a game ive ever played, afterall, though thief 1 has one up there as well.

It's not even the same font. The one in the Eidos-Montreal teaser image is Trajan, a.k.a. The Movie Font (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t87QKdOJNv8). The one in the Thief map is...some other Roman font. It's definitely not Trajan, though. Linking this to Thief is a stretch.
But I'll still be watching for an announcement...just in case.... =/

Hell yes its bad you have never heard of them! Thief: Deadly Shadows is and I mean IS by far the best stealth game ever made. The story was amazing, the graphics were incredible, and it was creepy as well. I would kill a baby for a new Thief game! I still play the old ones!

The Cradle level is still the most creeped out I've been in a game ever. You know it's good when you're scared stiff even though for about 90% of the level you're just walking through empty rooms.

It's about time!
The Thief franchise is nothing short of amazing. There has not been 1 game that has come close to the quality of stealth/FPS that the Thief series offered.
This is now my most anticipated game,
right under Duke Nukem Forever,
and just ahead of Max Payne 3.

The best stealth series by far. Takes the cake over MGS and Splinter Cell.
I hope they don't screw up a 4th installment though. Because I have little faith already in Deus Ex 3, since the second one was trash (in comparison the first of course).

I don't have a lot of faith in Eidos... they'll probably turn Thief 4 into an assassination simulator instead of focusing on what makes the series fun, hiding and stealing... and occasionally clubbing people in the back of the head.
They already ruined Deus Ex, I can't see them doing much better with Thief.

I love thief, so a new game would be welcome.... but the first one was an almost perfectly realised trilogy.
the world had 3 main factions. Garrett's story arced through three main parts. And it all came to a reasonably satisfying conclusion.
Its true that thief 3 was a small letdown after 1&2... but the series definitely doesn't NEED another part.
They almost need to start again with another world and character... though i'd miss that world and garrett a lot.

They said a while ago now that they were working on a project called 'T' which I always assumed was Thief as it's a great IP to own, and they should be making one.
Didn't some Eidos guy say a while ago that he wanted Thief to be more contemporary in setting, that worries me I loved the medieval / steampunk settings of the first 3.
