haha my thoughts exactly. Read "Chief Marketing Officer " and my head just dropped. I hope this isn't the guy in charge of PS3 marketing.

at SCEE yeah. but to my understanding the PS3 never really had lousy marketing in Europe; it's the US that had(s) the lousy marketing.

Actually the marketing is aweful here as well, just not as aweful as SCEAs. Its really a wonder that the PS3 is doing so well over here, especially with the way they screw us over compared to the US all the time

It's not so much that the marketing is bad. It's just the general lack of marketing altogether. The only time I've ever seen a PS3 advert (I live in the UK) was when Killzone 2 was advertised; that wasn't often either.

I'm just kind of worried that the tech-guys over at Playstation will just do nothing now.

@ Alphathon
Maybe if you guys could pick a damn language to speak in europe for all of your countries there wouldn't be such a problem. I can't imagine what a pain in the ass it must be to make a version that can bend to everyone needs over there. If you don't like it then stop bitching because the whole european continent is completely different one country to another. The red tape and differences are simply daunting. If you live in an area and know the conditions of that area, have the freedom to leave, then don't make such a big deal. Yes, America and japan are ideal areas, both large markets for games, and fortunately rely on primarily one language, you guys however, due to the long history of europe, are all over the place. When the majority of games are made in Japan and America, there going to be made to fit their origin first, and then porting to an understandable version for all of your different countries takes a lot of work, time, and money. Be practical.

You're not being serious with this 'pick one language' nonsense are you? Are you?

You do know that you are comparing a continent (Europe) to countries (The U.S. and Japan), right? And that several different languages are spoken within the continent that the U.S. (English, French, and Spanish for North America) and Japan (Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, and a slew of others if you head a little further southwest) are a part of, right?

And you do know that the games you buy in America almost always have Spanish or French options within them, right? And that even game boxes are starting to be printed in those three languages and being sold on American shelves RIGHT NOW, right?

You are a dog's anus.

@ Blkant

Lets face it, you're a douche bag. But you are also wrong. There isn't any 'red tape' in Europe at all. You can literally drive/walk from Italy to Estonia without being stopped for ID or papers. Unlike the US where you can't get from one state to the other without being stopped for identification. Not to mention the 90% likelihood of being shot wherever you go.

We may not all speak the same language, but at least we're not simply comprised of racists and homophobes.

Stop being a douche bag. Thank you for your time.

Every interview i have seen with him, he has come across like a nice guy - but there is something wrong in SCEE, most PS3 users from the EU who are active around the playstation community will know this so this is kind of good news.

Wasn't the guy in charge of the *whole* of marketing across all of Sony?

We get a lot of Sony ads and sponsorships in Europe, though none mention the PS3 though, maybe that will change now that PS brand is his sole brand to work with.

Actually, when you put it like that it does sound like quite a good thing. Maybe we'll see more adverts & sales for the PS3?

BLKANT is obviously insane. I guess all these contries need to team up and speak the same language (let me guess BK they all need to speak "American" or as you probably say "Merican!") and this is to be done to help Sony? Re-read your post to possibly understand how stupid it is and then delete it please.

Hopefully he manages to get SCEE's quality assurance team to stop sitting around, so that Europe and Australasia don't have to wait so long to get games. There are too many games that are available on the US store that aren't available on the Euro-based stores, and have completely lost track of the number of games that got a delayed European release.
