God of War III Game Director Stig Asmussen welcomes the challenge from EA's Dante's Inferno. In fact, he hopes it's a threat to The Ghost of Sparta, telling CVG that he expects a "fantastic game that serves as good competition."
Asmussen explains that "some of the guys" who worked on God of War are now working on Inferno. Allow us to provide the tagline for any potential franchise crossover: Hell's full ... but it's about to get Spartan.

I will never understand why people feel like they have to "Go" with something. Why not just be glad that you're going to (hopefully) have 2 great games to play? It's like missing out on Portal because you had to go with Halo. Pointless.

Because not everyone is such a fan of a certain genre (or similar games in general; or has money to burn), and would prefer to go with one or the other?
I think the PSP Siphon Filter games look neat, but they're pretty similar to Portable Ops, which I have. I'm at least going to burn myself out on Portable Ops before I get one of them. I'm not a big fan of racing games, but I like Burnout-- but there's no way I'm buying all of the ones in the series, when I could just try to find out which one is best, and go with that.
I tend to like unique and creative games-- I can stand a high quality, but very average game of a genre, like Halo is to FPS, but that doesn't mean I would want to play another similar game right away.

In some cases it's a bit more understandable. Before the instruments became cross-compatible on PS3 I 'went' with RB because I didn't want to have to make such an investment twice for two things so similar.
Even now buying what is effectively the same game but with a different tracklist in GH:WT doesn't quite seem as cost-effective as simply buying other, different new games.

I agree with you Baron, I can understand when it comes to something like Rock Band and Guitar Hero where you have near identical gameplay/story/etc. I have invested way to much in Rock Band DLC, so I would rather buy 30 DLC songs I will play over and over than buy GHWT and have to switch discs. I still don't see the point on missing out on a good game though. It seems like a console level of fanboyism.

i kinda understand the 'go with' statement. for me it usually means which one i buy and which i rent or which i buy now and which i buy over the summer drought. either way, both get played.
but i will never understand the 'i'll just wait to see how popular Inferno gets'. maybe on an online multiplayer game but not this. seriously dude.

This is cool, but GoW will be revisited while Dante's Inferno has no sequel possibilites (without completely butchering the point of the game)

You do realize that the inferno is just one part of the divine comedy right?

If you mean book, I think it's already been butchered.

The book has been butchered but the point of the game, I believe is to rescue Beatrice and kill Satan. And yes they can do purgatory and Heaven, but do you really think they will do a game in whcih the last boss is god?

As a side note, when I was in the 2nd or 3rd grade I wrote in a paper that Lincoln was a writer of the constitution. It sounded so right at the time.

If you remember the book as being a violent beat-em-up with quicktime events, then yes, it will be very faithful.

wow GoW devs cocky much. sorry but the trailer for gow3 was very underwhelming, ancient ps2 looking animations, and low poly/detail enemies.

I...don't think you read that correctly. They are looking forward to good things from Dante's Inferno, not like Tomonobu Itagaki and saying that his Ninja Gaiden series pisses all over every other action game.
And you must've not seen the latest GoW3 trailer. Both of these games are looking top notch for fans of the genre.

Well you know Dead Space is better than both RE 4 & 5 so it's possible that this game could improve on some things and be equal or better. The only thing is that GoW doesn't have any critical flaws like RE 4 & 5 did so some small gameplay improvements (running & shooting) won't make that big of a difference. Then there is also the fact that one is an exclusive optimized for the hardware while the other is a multiplatform designed to run equally on multiple platforms.
The funny thing is that first time I saw the premiere trailer for Dantes Inferno I thought of ... Dead Space. The demons/creepy crawlies looked just like the ones from Dead Space. I'm not 100% on this but I would assume it's probably the same development studio as well.

I beat every square inch of RE:4 on the 'Cube including Assignment Ada (hard) & Mercenaries (5*) and the game probably another 30 or so times. Hell, I even bought the much crappier PS2 special edition with the metal box when that dropped and did it all over again. So, I know what RE:4 is about because I've been there and I have the t-shirt to show for it. I haven't bothered buying the Wii version but I did get to play it a few times at a friends place. Up until LBP released it was my favorite game of all time.
Dead Space made RE:4 & especially RE:5 (can't get into RE: 5 at all) look like amateur hour. It took the formula and improved it in addition to having a much better story and animated movie/back story. There are a lot of things I still love about RE:4 and it's without a doubt the best game in the series. The merchant was very memorable, combining treasures was great and the graphics still stand up well to a lot of games. It did have some problems like a terribly cliche story and a lack of difficulty.
I won't take it back because I know that Dead Space is a better game and is really underrated. At this point I think RE:4 is probably overrated because of the memories people have about it. I will say that beating Assignment Ada was one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do in a video game - EVAR.

I most likely get both, with a definitely on GOW, and a most likely on Dante's Inferno. Hope they aren't released too close together.

I could have seen it being an adventure game of some sort, going around and talking to people. Not a God of War clone though.

Kratos will ass rape Dante. No, i mean literally, as in the character Kratos would actually rape him.

you dont mean that literally, because they arent real, and the character models do not have ass rape animations
