The UK likes its crime, apparently, as EA's Godfather II has managed to soar to the #2 spot on the region's sales charts. Sure, we've seen a few Guy Ritchie flicks in our life, but we're fairly surprised that you lot turned out in droves to check out the exploits of the Corleone family. The game even managed to topple Resident Evil 5 and Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, which we all know are like crack to the UK.
Godfather II was not able to keep Wii Fit from the top spot this week, however. But, hey, the sky is still blue and the grass is still green, so what did you expect?

I really wanted to buy this game but I heard its not really worth it... What does the Joystiq family think? Should I pick it up?

It's probably worth a rental at the very least. I was thinking about getting it too but the commercials were bad. Like, it looked like a ps2 game in action so I'm just gonna rent it now

Rented from GameFly, put in about five hours, sent back... I didn't give a shit about the characters or story (it very loosely follows the movie); the cities are tiny (they're more like neighborhoods), especially New York and Havana, and while Miami is bigger it's boring to look at; superficially, you're running from one locale to the next and killing people; asinine "favors" system whereby you run up to people on the sidewalk, listen to one of seven or eight stories -- e.g. steal this thing, vandalize this place, kill this bitch -- and then perform said favor to gain clues on where and how to whack rival mafioso; execution animations are mildly interesting and gross; graphics are passable but nothing that'll make you say wow.

yea, its not worth the $60
it definitely worth a rent
its not like the original that actually follows the movie
its more like its own story that once in a while visits the movie
and its beatable in less than 10hrs
100% achievements in about 11hrs

Obesity problem + love affair with fad diets and exercises = Wii Fit sales.

GI laid the smack down on this game in this month's issue. It was a funny read.
BTW, does anybody ever comment and then right away downvote themselves? I just did just in case it has never happened.

The first game was bad enough and an insult to the movie that it aped. I can't fathom who is buying the sequel, especially given the utterly dismal reviews it is getting. Words like "unfinished", "bugged", "boring" are being bandied around to describe it.

It's mildly amusing, but not very well coded. Too often you get jobs to bomb your own businesses and your character just says, "Okay. Sure. Happy to oblige. It's not as if I owned the joint."

Its rubbish, or actually, its distinctly below average is a bit fairer. Far too easy, far too bugged and far too short.
The only plus I can get out of the game is it can take under 7 hours to get the full 1000 point achievements.
