I have the first 2, but the lack of true HD keeps me from using it much. THats why I wish my PS3 had Back-compat. But this will fix my problem, especially if they update it graphically.

That would be nice. I've still yet to buy the second one and my PS3 has the unfortunate ailment of no PS2 back-comp

It said God of War 1 & II on BLU-RAY. That means you don't have to worry about backward compatibility.

I hope they do this! Unfortunetly I never did play any of the Playstation 1 or 2 games, Playstation 3 was my first Sony console... Id love to play some of the great games out there I missed (GOW1/2, GT3/4, FF's, etc)

So hears hoping they do! Otherwise, I might not even try this game out :( I hate playing sequel games without playing the originals :(

I have the PS3 with limited BC (the MGS4 bundle), GOW1 plays but the FMVs are choppy, so this might be worthwhile if they update the visuals.

Personally, though, I just want the T-shirt with a picture of all the other prizes I could've gotten had I voted differently.

I have never bought a collectors edition. The items never seem like something I'd get much use out of, but a Blue-ray of the first two games! That would be a no brainer! T-shirt would be other item I'd be interested in.

Why do people only want the first two games or a tshirt? We all know that the t-shirt will be an extra large which will piss off a lot of gamers that aren't an extra large. Anyways I understand why people would want the first two games, but since I have both of them still and a 60gig bc ps3 I would like to have a cinematic movie compilation as a recap. It will help me remember details I've forgotten. A graphic novel would also be pretty cool and I have to say that I would wear a Blades of Athena necklace. So far the only thing I would really like is the soundtrack, the graphic novel, cinematic compilation, the necklace, art book, and behind the scenes. What I would absolutely love is a Kratos bobble head, sort of like the one from fallout 3!

And because he sounds like a douche.

When trophies and achievements give an in game reward, other than, hey you did something, then I will care. The only game I have played with in game rewards for achievements was Mass Effect. If God of War 3 does in game trophies like that, then I'll get excited about them.

Having played through only a small segment of the first one because I didn't have a PS2 I would probably pick up a Collectors Edition of this game to play all 3 games on my PS3. I don't care so much for a soundtrack or making of features or an art book.

The storage format doesn't have anything to do with the format of the game. Just because you put a PS2 game on Blu-ray doesn't magically make it compatible with the PS3.

@ryan

I'm sure that's possible, but it would likely be a TON of work. At that point you may as well do a complete remake and put in new higher res texures and such. While I would certainly LOVE to see that, I would be nearly as intrigued by the thought of a working PS2 emulator. I own an original 60GB PS2 BC PS3, but I think a working PS2 emulator would be great news for all the PS3 owners out there with non-BC models.

I never had a PS2. I have a PS3, bought Uncharted, played an hour, sold it on ebay. So far, no PS3 games are my cup of tea. I thinking of getting both SFII and IV though. Including the 2 PS2 games would make it a pre-order though.

I have a gaming PC for FPS. I hate RPGs. I have wanted to pick up Jak and Daxter. I've played LIttle Big Planet at friends, great idea, but meh.

But, go ahead and vote a guy down for saying he'd buy a game day of release. I usually wait for games to get a discount or buy used.

It does include all three. Even if it doesn't, why don't you buy it off ebay or gamestop? I saw God of War 1 and 2 for $5 bucks at gamestop. Or rent it if you can find in at Blockbuster. You owe to yourself to play the first two. You're missing out!

The first two games would work better as a bonus for reserving the game...who would open up a brand new God of War III and play the first two first? ALSO, exclusive DLC is always a dumb idea.

That wouldn't work. Not everyone has a backwards compatible PS3. So which is better? God of War I & II on a blu-ray disk that would work on all PS3s, or God of War I & II on PS2 disks that won't work on all PS3s?

"God of War I & II on a blu-ray disk that would work on all PS3s"

Where are you guys getting this idea from? They haven't reprogrammed these games, they're just putting 2 games on one disc. If you don't have PS2 BC on your PS3 you're not gonna play it.

Now, if some super awesome miracle has happened, and they've built a software emulator for PS2 games and this is the debut of that emulator...then it makes sense. However this is about as likely as my grandma coming back to life as a zombie.

If it's just 2 games slapped on one bluray that I can't use on my PS3 or PS2 (because of format) then no thanks.

That's screwing over late adopters who bought a recent 160gb/80gb and those that are waiting for this game to buy a PS3. If that's the case, then why even give us a choice in the survey?

If they actually do this and it works on all PS2 then that would likely mean Sony has a decent PS2 emulator. Maybe it would have to be customized per game like the 360's XBox emulation, but this news could bode well for the future of PS2 backwards compatibility.

There are a couple of fairly safe bets here. God of War I/II still hold up on PS2 in component video on modern TVs and the effort of porting them line by line to PS3 would be immense, which makes a PS3 native version by far the least likely option - especially given we know Sony has a PS2 emulator for PS3, on machines with limited b/c.

It would be a fairly straightforward process to put that emulator on a Blu-Ray along with God of War I/II, enabling you to play them from the disc. I would imagine that it'd be locked into playing these two titles only.

If Sony do go ahead with this idea, it could well mean they are finally looking at including b/c on PS3 again. Which would be bloomlin' marvellous.
