Crash TV provides early glimpse of Burnout Paradise's cop cars
The folks at Criterion Games don't just sit around crashing virtual cars all day, you know. Well, okay, maybe they do a little, but they also produce a video show called Crash TV, which provides a behind-the-scenes look at everything the company is doing with its game, Burnout Paradise. In the latest episode, Criterion previews some of the cop cars coming in the Cops and Robbers DLC pack. We've embedded the latest episode of Crash TV after the break, which shows off around 15 new cop cars in total, so click through and get your 7-minute dose of cop car goodness.

This is going to be sweet! Can't wait for this and Big Surf Island too.
chrisyz @ Apr 16th 2009 4:11PM
So... Is Criterion ever going to stop making Burnout DLC? Ever?
Fraser @ Apr 16th 2009 4:19PM
I don't think they will any time soon. I think DLC like this is the new "follow-up" game, by which I mean the same game engine, with a different model on-top.
Criterion can add LOTS of functionality through updates, whether they be paid or free - but the "Paradise City" today is almost, bar the map itself, completely different to the "Paradise" when it was released.
I genuinely believe Criterion are pioneering the new way of game distribution - in which a game will basically become and "operating system" if you like. A base that can be built upon with DLC.

if u jinx it, i will KILL you.
Lucas @ Apr 16th 2009 11:17PM
Its starting to feel like Criterion is spamming up with DLC, and so far whats been released isn't that substantial(new cars). I haven't purchased any DLC for Burnout Paradise yet, but defiantly getting the Island, maybe Cops and Robbers.
Ballard @ Apr 28th 2009 4:17PM
@Lucas
Your not thinking about the tons of free stuff they have added to the game. The bike patch was huge. There was no day/night cycle before that. Early adopters of the game seem to be more appreciative as we've seen the game evolve.
madatoman @ Apr 16th 2009 4:19PM
COP COWS! HOLY SHIT!
Ashitaka @ Apr 17th 2009 8:49AM
lmao! So true :P
+1

When is the 3D patch coming out?
Brian @ Apr 16th 2009 6:29PM
Excuse me?
PN04 @ Apr 16th 2009 10:10PM
I think he's referring to the PS3 patch that is supposed to make games viewable in 3D but as far as I know it was only mentioned in regards to first party games.
Deaddy @ Apr 16th 2009 4:53PM
Looks pretty cool, but I'm getting really impatient and wish they would just give us the island and quit bringing out all this other stuff. After this, I bet they're going to announce another car pack or something to come out before the island. And then probably another. At this point, over 1 year later, I would rather buy a full sequel with a whole new world instead of an add-on island that's only the size of downtown paradise.
Deeznuts420 @ Apr 16th 2009 5:07PM
where in the hell is that huge jump?!!?
todd @ Apr 16th 2009 5:27PM
The one in the airport?
LeMansRacer @ Apr 16th 2009 5:09PM
There making a Police Liverie for all the original cars, the french man said "We have PCPD liverie for all 33 cars". That leaves out the Hunter Civilian and Krieger WTR Racing out as there is already the Hunter Citizen a Krieger PCPD Special. (If you believe all the stories on Joystiq, then these haven't been released yet)
snake101st @ Apr 16th 2009 5:17PM
If they wanted to have so many different varieties of cop cars, why only use that one siren? European countries dont use the American sirens. I think itd be a look cooler if they all had their native country's siren, instead we get them with all the same, and I predict it getting very annoying.
DJcube @ Apr 16th 2009 5:22PM
But they do have different sirens...
Can't wait for this (30th April, 800MS points if EA haven't made a mistake) and the island.
DJcube @ Apr 16th 2009 5:26PM
Actually, never mind. I was thinking of something else.
todd @ Apr 16th 2009 5:27PM
IS there an associated mode with this or is this just new cars? I was hoping for a NFS:MW type of thing or even a MP mode for this.
ittybittygirl @ Apr 16th 2009 5:36PM
I believe it is supposed to be a Capture the Flag type game where you steal gold and bring it back to your base.
jalannom @ Apr 16th 2009 5:43PM
Hmm.. we already have cop cars and we also have the "Marked Man" mode which is almost the same thing. So.. it's basically just more cop cars?
Richards | PSN: F4WMR @ Apr 16th 2009 8:56PM
I cant get into this franchise. All the power to you Burnout freaks.
Rhamsey @ Apr 16th 2009 10:00PM
god, i got this game for free and i think ive already put enough into dlc to buy it. but its still such an awesome game. cant wait for this. and paradise island
Mazrael @ Apr 27th 2009 4:39PM
I wouldn't say the SUV was the 'English' police car.. if anything, we see the Peugeot 206/306, Vauxhall (Opel to some) Carlton, Astra, VVectra, Zafira & Ford Focus.. Ford Transit.. I've seen BMWs.. When I was a kid it was the Ford Escort.
Laurens Holst @ Apr 27th 2009 6:03PM
Too bad all cars have the same US-police sound!
I hope they have a Dutch police car as well :).
