If you were worried that the recent announcement of inFamous' unprecedented anti-delay was some sort of sick (and outrageously belated) April Fools' Day joke, you can cool your jets -- developer Sucker Punch announced today that the game has gone gold. Yes, the PS3-exclusive, open-world action title is on its way to the printers -- even with that glaringly obvious grammatical error in the title. inFamous? Seriously? Who named this thing, E.E. Cummings?
The stupidly titled game is scheduled to hit U.S. store shelves on May 26, but you can get your hands on it a bit earlier when the demo drops on May 21.

Bit late in the day to be taking the mick out of the title. Maybe raise this stuff when it's in development. I think the title fits, to be honest, considering the multiple paths you could choose.

Mind you, are you talking about the fact the work in doesn't start with a capital? You realise it's supposed to be like that? Like he's IN the word Famous. Multiple path could make him neither Infamous or Famous but he's in between fame. inFamous, so to speak.
Others get it...just not Griffin, I guess.

That's because it was a stupid joke. E.E. Cummings, or as he would put it, "ee cummings" was notorious for never capitalizing anything in his poetry.

Am i missing something here ? I even googled the word infamous thinking perhaps the Americans had possibly changed the spelling of it like they do with some of our words , but no they spell it the same as the rest of us .
Errmm ... it must be that I'm getting old as I don't get the joke , and yea who is E.E. Cummings , must be one of these young gangster rappers or something .
Right I'm off to google that now as well ,

is it me or.... are we getting more negativity since the site change... it seems 90% of the clips I read end or start with a shot... I liked it better the fanboy way... I can go to G4, or 1up if I want something negative said about 90% of sony's news.
Just saying...

Yeah, I think the same thing. If I enter in a Playstation site is to see someone that like playstation sayng things about the vg I like. I have this in Fonboy, I can't say the same thing about joystiq...

Totally agree. I think it's because they have a bunch of the 360 guys writing PS3 news. Even before the change I noticed a lot of negativity about silly things. I don't want a site that is completely in love with Sony, but I don't need the stories to bash the company at every turn. Does such a site exist? I haven't found it...

I have also noticed it. It's not too cool.
You don't have to bring the old PS3F back - but please keep it to the same people that wrote for PS3F. No offense to the other Joystiqers... but seriously? Do we have to read bash after bash? I still can't believe that some people STILL think the PS3 is an inferior console, anyway.

@bluefrog: Kotaku is fair on occasion. I just miss the old ps3 fanboy writers, except for Andrew Yoon, an X3F douchebag. ;)

Yeah I too agree, I'm getting sick of Joystiq (and Kotaku) constantly bashing Sony for no reason. Its getting to the point where I dont even come here anymore cause its starting to really piss me off. I mean the game went gold; good, excellent - but why then do journalists need to add their own 2-cents worth as well?

E.E. Cummings was a famous poet and writer who used to spell his name like this: e e cummings. Notice how he used lowercase letters? Yes, a lame attempt at being funny.

I really don't see what's the problem with the name of the game. It's a video game, not a literature exam. Sheesh, man...

Why does everyone hate on bad humor, take it for what it's worth. Sure it's not funny, but it's not exactly stupid either. He does have a point, it's just not funny. So laugh politely and move on.
LOL @ Joystiq!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA, man that was a side buster!
See now he's not so ashamed!

I think the problem is not that the humor is unfunny, but that the humor comes off as mean-spirited (even if that isn't intended to be so).
People are willing to laugh off a bad pun, but you know how people get when something they may like is apparently being insulted. The complaints are probably coming from the italicizing of "stupidly titled" in the second paragraph.

The start of the article isn't too bad. Its just the "stupidly titled game" bit that is a bit bashy and unnecessary.

The spelling of the name kind of seems to be a play on words and the good/evil aspect of the game where you can be good to be Famous or bad to become Infamous. They just captalize the F to emphasize the choice, or something like that.

I was under the impression, that when you name your game/product, you can name it and spell it however you like? iPod? Xtreme Sports? ESPN? KTLA? Spiderman? Havoc? Havok? Nvidia? ATI? Intel? ATI? Radeon? 360? Xbox? Playstation? Wii? Wip3out?
Wow, this is biased journalism at its best? PS3Fanboy has stooped to making fun of a game's title?
Maybe there is not much news out and this was the best he could come up with? How about posting the US PSN Thursday info?
Or, maybe, we are reading too much into this, and this was a successful example of bad humor at its "best"?

I'm in agreement with Araskaz, as well as many others. Leave the PS news to the old PS3Fanboy writers and keep the 360 trolls confined to their own page.
"Humour" of this kind, as you can, isn't even regarded as hit and miss. It's just lowbrow, lowest common denominator trolling - at best.

Having skimmed the opening paragraph of the kindly provided Wikipedia entry on this E.E. Cummings character it sounds like despite being known for glaringly obvious grammatical errors he did alright for himself. Maybe this game will too, and there will be no further need for articles that make their authors look like they don't know their arse from their elbow.

Grammar has to do with the interplay between words, and how meaning can be derived by structure. I think the term you're looking for is "typographical error".
