Joystiq is correct on this. Spend 10 minutes on http://goozex.com, and list your games for trade.

It's ridiculously easy to use, and you get almost one full game's value for every game you send in. Compare that with Gamestop, Amazon, Radio Shack, where you are lucky to have a game's worth of credit after trading in four games.

THIS. I was skeptical about Goozex for a while but I decided, hey, fuck it, might as well give it a try about two weeks ago. I sent in Resistance 2, a game that likely wouldn't have netted me more than maybe $20-$25 at Gamestop (probably less), and within a week and a half, got Grand Theft Auto 4, F-Zero GX, AND Final Fantasy 9. Their point system is pretty damned nice; much better than trading in for paltry amounts of credit at places like Gamestop. Make sure you google around and find a coupon code or two before signing up, though; it's always nice to have those extra points laying around. I'm not gonna bother posting my referral link. I just want more people to sign up, it's really a great website.

Unless you're using CAGs forums or a site like Goozex.

We've been doing this for about a month or so. No one has traded anything in towards anything, even with the huge banners we hung in the window. Makes a lot of sense, because I can't think of anything that we have that someone would want to trade things in for (okay, the idea is that they'll trade in their old digicams and such when they buy new, but my store hasn't seen it happen yet).

We aren't really getting into the used item market though, because at the end of each week we are to send all of the traded in stuff off to a magical place never to be seen again.

Yeah my Radioshack has been involved in this program since it began a few months ago, but as far as I'm aware no one has traded in anything. The amount you get for a device even under the best circumstances is so low that it's more valuable either being saved as a back up, given to a friend/family member, or sold privately. At that point in time I'm fairly certain we weren't taking in games so this is kind of exciting.

I hope we do start selling the used games simply because it'd be more convenient for me. Maybe we won't end up selling them ourselves, but perhaps selling them to other retailers that specialize in or offer second-hand game sales.

Man, when I was little Radio shack was awesome. I am talking before Best Buys and Circuit City, it was the place for cool electronics.

Then it became the place with outdated brands, and annoying cashiers that asked for an ID whenever I bought a pack of batteries.

But if RS will one day help me avoid Gamestop...sure!

We're forced to ask for names and addresses, man, we don't want to. I cringe inside whenever I do. :'(

Typical product/service progression - we are in the growth stage which tends to be good for consumers.

The best thing that can be said about this policy is that my Radio Shack is located right next to my Gamestop, and if the five minutes of the Econ 101 class that overheard while throwing a lacrosse ball outside while skipping psych class has taught me anything it's that competition is a *good* thing and often drives prices down- and less costly games are something we all can love. Well, everybody except for game publishers.
