Square Enix delivers one Order of War
Order of War recreates two WWII campaigns: "American versus German forces on the western front and German versus Russian on the eastern front." It allows players to control forces both on the ground and in the air and will release simultaneously this fall across "all territories."
This may be Square Enix's first Western release of a Western-developed game, but it isn't the first for the two companies that became Square Enix. Square's first was Secret of Evermore in 1995, and Enix's seems to be a SNES game based on King Arthur & The Knights of Justice.

I was hoping for something along the lines of Streets of Rage, but oh well.
novus82x @ Apr 16th 2009 3:13PM
I'm actuallllly.... kind of interested in this. I recently watched Patton on Blu-Ray and would dig a "good" WW2 game. I want an uber historically accurate one though with good gameplay. Do those exist really? Seems like most war games are "set in the time period" or even worse, just end up being a generic FPS.
I'm picturing a RTS like red alert with real vehicles/army units that follows Patton's campaign through Africa and Europe. Wishful thinking?

Secrets of Evermore is definitely a contender for best SNES game. That game was bloody brilliant.
Spallit @ Apr 16th 2009 2:50PM
heh heh, I see what you did there :)
Spallit @ Apr 16th 2009 2:52PM
Woops! That was in reference to Ryan's "blizzaga" comment.
ryan @ Apr 16th 2009 2:15PM
A WWII game published by Square? Someone cast blizzaga over hell it seems. Should be interesting for fans of the genre.
snowleopard233 @ Apr 16th 2009 2:41PM
(Yawn) Is anyone else sick of WWII?
Duke @ Apr 16th 2009 2:58PM
This is an almost insulting announcement really. Oh thanks, all we know to play are WW2 games, yeah SE, you got us. We so stupid.
LokeSTL @ Apr 16th 2009 2:42PM
They need to quit screwing around with crap like this and get to releasing The Last Remnant on PS3. Seriously........
StarFoxA @ Apr 16th 2009 2:53PM
How about releasing Chrono Break?
LokeSTL @ Apr 16th 2009 3:29PM
The Last Remnant is a finished game that was promised for the PS3 as a multi-plat release. Just wish SE would drop some new info about what the holdup is.
Chrono Break would be fantastic, but hasn't even been started on. I'll jump on that bandwagon after they give me what they've already promised: a PS3 release of The Last Remnant.
Ezio Auditore de Firenze (PSN slycooper_rocker) @ Apr 16th 2009 5:33PM
Chrono Break is WAY more important than a port of The Last Remnant.
LokeSTL @ Apr 16th 2009 5:59PM
An opinion that we don't share. I would rather them give me the game that is already finished before starting on a game that will take 3-5 years to complete. Just seems to make more sense to me.
In A World (XBL) @ Apr 16th 2009 2:52PM
Atleast do something original, like let people play as Japanese Kamikaze pilots. (I *think* that's original, anyway)
kal326 @ Apr 16th 2009 3:17PM
I see that having a bit of a problem with continuatilty unless it was the last part of the game or the last part of one part of a staggered campaign like the COD series. However doing the stage red multi-side campaign has already been done in a WWII game and that kinda takes away from the originality.
In A World (XBL) @ Apr 16th 2009 3:34PM
I think you mean Continuity, but anyways, yeah it figures that I come up with something and it's a case of "Simpsons did it! Simpsons did it!" because really everything having to do with WWII has been done to death in a million different ways. That's why people are so sick of it.
Jinsenken @ Apr 16th 2009 5:00PM
Lol@The thought of Nazis with lots of belts and zippers.
Phoenix @ Apr 16th 2009 5:20PM
For some reason it doesn't feel THAT out of place to me...
Cosmo @ Apr 16th 2009 5:20PM
Nice to see their gaining interest in the PC platform. : )
Pantsparty @ Apr 16th 2009 6:18PM
I don't understand what platform this is coming to too. The post says a PC Strategy game but later on he quotes "across all territories" Does that indicate other platforms? Or does it indicate that it will come to EU, CAN, etc.?
rtINFINITY @ Apr 16th 2009 7:04PM
I don't get this at all. I thought that when SE started its undertaking to appeal to western gamers, I thought that the company would try to redefine their approach to rpgs to appeal more to western sensibilities (yeah, I know... that's wishful thinking seeing as how they're pumping out FF remakes and related games like ecstasy at a rave), but to do a WWII strategy game??? It sounds like a fitting deal if SOME OTHER company was doing it, but Square? I expected something different than this, I don't know, but something different... NOT THIS TRIED-AGAIN-LIKE-A-PROSTITUTE WWII STUFF!!! I know that Square isn't known for it's originality these days, but come on!
Xvnine @ Apr 17th 2009 12:27AM
How more different can it get? No one was expecting this. Also something just doesn't feel right, this and Velvet Assassin.
John @ Apr 17th 2009 3:58AM
April fools?
*sigh*
dimaskrenz @ Apr 19th 2009 10:04AM
Still no German-Campaign FPS...
