I too am going to buy prototype, batman and madworld so even if I was interested in the Conduit it would be taking a backseat for a long time as I'm not rolling in dough. I wasn't going to get madworld, as it looked shallow and the style hurts my eyes, but some of those kill animations are too awesome.

Without bloom or colorful shaders, i would've mistaken this for a game running on the quake 3 engine. Models look great, but the level structure is horrid. I hope it succeeds, but the market they're targeting with this game would likely have another console, where there's a multitude of better looking FPS's to choose from.

I don't get WiiSpeak. How does it not get flooded with game audio? (particularly right on top of the television, as it's always shown.)

How does the incoming speech not get fed back to the mic?

I don't get it.

there are some algorithms which many mics have now that can recognize when its speach and when its any other sound that echoes.

I can't recall how its named, but on my sound driver options i can toggle that option.

Characters in-game don't talk?

I've tried some background noise canceling microphones by much better audio tech companies than Nintendo, and in my experience they don't do shit. And those are headsets with boom mics situated directly next to your mouth.

I understand the concept of WiiSpeak. I just don't buy it. I'd have to see it to believe it.

I think Hinkle has WiiSpeak and was commenting about it on an article he'd authored. I don't think he was too big a fan or thought it worked very well. Don't think Joystiq ever really did much of a review on it.

Unfortunate.

It looks like SEGA has decided to push out their hardcore trio (Overkill, Madworld, and now Conduit) without giving time to polish and work out flaws. HOTD and Madworld both too short (Conduit probably will be as well, although it has a chance of Multiplayer making up for it), HOTD and Conduit taking ambitious graphical effects while leaving dingy environment, all of them being very hyped but with no real followthrough after release.

I keep a list of games to buy, in an approximate order of how interested I am in them. MadWorld started out pretty high on my list. Then I started reading what some people were saying about it. It kept sounding more and more shallow, and lacking in replay value. And then I started to read about someone having it freeze. And someone else. And someone else. Eventually, it fell off my list entirely.

SEGA is releasing these games full of flaws (really, I don't know why I'm surprised anymore), and expecting us to buy them because they're 'hardcore'. As it is, I don't think I'll be paying more than $15 for Overkill or Madworld. Conduit is already on thin ice, and lately every single thing I see on it lowers my opinion of it. Maybe a 'gamer pack' of the three titles for $30-50, like the PS2 is doing with a lot of games, would be nice. Try all of them, and if I really like one of the three, it's no loss. There is absolutely no way I'm paying $50 for any of these games individually, and Conduit will have to be a lot better than it's looking in order to justify picking it up when it hits $30.

Been playing madworld a lot lately. Never had a freezen problem. Might be some Wii related program more than the game.

I had had more problems with Assasin Creed freezen from time to time or RE5 full of bugs (Once, Sheva wouldn't give me the Rocket she was holding, rendering her useless, i got pissed off and blown the rocket of her hand, xDDDD)

As i stated, its your choice if you want to buy it or not

No, it was a problem with MadWorld freezing.

And yes, other games are buggy too, and that's a downside to be avoided, to me. Although, if I had a PS3, I wouldn't have bought AC or RE5 anyway, those are for other unrelated reasons.

I too have never seen Mad World freeze at all. The killing animations are a 'little' repetitive for the basic ones, but there is enough unique-to-the-level-environment-kills, Blood Challenges, and spectacular boss fights to mix it up very well, on top of some weapons and their unique kills can only be had in certain levels. It is a little short yes, but it's also immense fun, and extremely difficult in higher difficulties, adding to replay value greatly. Worth buying for every Wii gamer.

so much bashing on this game by so many haters makes you wonder "what are they trying to accomplish by doing it?"

Sometimes, i wonder why americans have this idea of "i won't be buying that thing!!!". Its not like they are forcing you to buy it. If you want it, buy it, if you don't, don't buy it. If you like it, ok, if you don't, there something else for you.

Its the same thing DLC. Its optional.

Myself, i'll be getting this one, i'll wait for Batman to go down to the used bin, its not like the GOTY for me. Besides, my wii gets more attention than my PS3, so it takes priority when its about new titles

So long as they use that time to guarantee server compatibility and get all that up to snuff, i don't really care.

As for the clash with Batman, this sort of thing has never proven to be a problem in the past. Remember the week of Mario Kart Wii and GTAIV? Neither ended up suffering.

If this game released in the Wii's first year, it would be a million seller and then some. Much like Kathleen Turner, time has not been kind.

In the beginning, people were so excited and seemed to snatch up games without even caring about what the hands-on or previews had to say. I can only speak for myself, but these days, the Wii-owning gamers are more skeptical and are sure to read up on every new anticipated title, making sure it's worth their time and money.

I'm pretty pumped for this game, but like I mentioned, I'm still a little hesitant and have been closely following this games development.

On a side note, I thought Mad World was a pretty cool, old school brawler and the controls worked perfectly. I wish more people would pick it up to support developers taking risks.

Have mercy

I think it might do better then people think it will perhaps not break records but make enough of a splash for Sega to be happy with it. I'm guessing that Sega isn't expecting much from the game and if it sells decently they will be happy. I for one will be picking it up for sure!

Totally off topic, but One Piece 396 is freaking awesome, check it out. Luffy delivers the greatest face punch I've ever seen at the end of the episode (even better than his Bellamy OHKO).

This game would be great if I hadn't bought a 360 while waiting for a good Wii game to come out.

But now that I have something better than my Wii, I really don't have any reason to buy this game now.

The 360 is not better, you fuckin fanboy! There are over 1 mil more hardware crashes on Microsofts shitbox 360s than there are on the Wii. Only your particular audience can say that metal deathcrap is better, and you don't want me to tell you what audience I'm talking about...

The Wii is way better, you f***ing fanboy. If you are going to state an opinion, especially one that is wrong, please support it. The wii is superior because it goes after the wide range of gamers and nongamers alike. Yes, I WOULD like to see more hardcore and AAA games, but the Wii has so many great games coming out this year. You were definitely wrong to join the dark side. Step 1-Buy some games: Resident Evil 4, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, de Blob, Okami, Corruption, Galaxy, AND PREORDER THE CONDUIT!!!
Step 2-Play those games, realise the depth and quality in each, and then let Nintendo win you back.
Optional Step 3- smash the 360

It seems like they've put all their effort into making the enemies all shiny and bump-mapped... and left the levels looking very barren and flat.

The levels kind of remind me of the original Deus Ex, or or Project: Snowblind on the xbox. I can't help but feel that more effort on the environmental textures would have paid off more than on the enemies.

I hope this sells well, and i'd like to play it. However it is becoming clear that the so called "hardcore" market on the wii is limited. It exists, but its not half as big as the market on the 360/PS3.

Still... it means you get to be a big fish in a small pond, rather than just another fish in a big one.

The game isn't even out yet, all I'm concerned about is how long it will be until I get my hands upon it. After its been out for 6 months, then we can discuss sales in an angry aggressive fashion. :D
