Technically, the now-gen revival of Bionic Commando is rated "M" because of some violence and light language. But the reason that Capcom didn't trim that to go for a Teen rating is a bit more complex. MTV Multiplayer reports that the game was originally supposed to ship with a demo for the definitely M-rated Resident Evil 5.
Plans changed and Bionic Commando ended up being released after RE5, and since it had already gotten an infusion of dirty words and blood, the rating stuck. Bad news for some, but good news for us who want one more reason to feel superior to 15-year-olds.

Bionic Commando might not be a top seller, but Dead Rising and Lost Planet has a cult fallowing and probably will do well! The only down side for Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 2 is that they might stay 360 exclusive... which would suck for me, but what ever.

Well, I'm buying Bionic Commando and Lost Planet 2 but didn't buy RE5, SF4 or DMC4.

The funny thing is, that's the actual mindset of alot of those commenters you find on here and similar sites that brag about their M-rated gaming. The worst part is they most likely are 15 year olds.

Man, DMC4 is fun. I've been playing the hell out of it on PS3. Seems like it didn't make too big a splash at retail, though--did it really sell over a million? I found it on the bargain bin..

Heh, as much as I don't like younger kids playing games now, those ratings never stopped them before. I remember I was nine when doom came out and ten when duke nukem came out and I played the hell out of them right after I bought them myself, by myself. But that was back when the better kids were playing games, now every kid plays them -_

I have to agree. I remember having the first Mortal Kombat on PC when I was eight. My parents got it for me for Christmas!
Oh yes, it was awesome. Mortal Kombat: blood, fatalities, spike pit and all.

Why is it when a deranged kid goes on a rampage after playing Grand Theft Auto, its always the Playstation that gets blamed? ... I mean don't shoot the messenger lol.

But you were saying every kid plays games now... and I agree, its not good. I went round to someones house the other day the kid there was playing GTA San Andreas... In my opinion the worst one of all of them to expose to an impressionable teen. Sure enough he's picked up the gangsta attitude despite being white as a snowman, but more than that. I was quite disturbed at how much he was relating to it... More than a normal kid would. To be a gangster is now his life aspiration! :O
His mum had no control over it at this point, despite how much she tried. Ya know... Without actually getting rid of the damn game. *rolls eyes*

I used to play Doom when I was 6 or 7, and I never wanted to be a Space Marine or pop some homies. It really should be just the smarter kids... :(

Haha wait, what? I thought that was exactly the kind of thing 15 year olds like and/or do?

RE5 should really stop soiling itself. It’s even getting into poor Bionic Commando’s dreads.

Give it a break. RE5 is a good game and, while not as solid as its predecessor, it'll still probably end up being better than Bionic Commando.

Good M rated games sell well. Just like good T rated games sell well. The margin for excellence might be a bit tougher for M because of the lower install base, but the high age/income of buyers can make a big difference when you deliver a quality experience.
BC is on my GameFly list. The GiantBomb video preview looked terrific and fun.

Still not sure about this game. It looks like one of those games that will either be unexpectedly great or will suck terribly. Hopefully this demo will give us an indication on which side it is leaning towards.

Well, I've been on Xbox Live for years, and I usually don't get all of the games with whiny little kids, but I did yesterday playing Gears2. I don't think the M rating will stop them. I'm not even against all teenagers playing the game, but the ones who I believe may be mature enough were definitely not playing in the game with me yesterday.

Suck it, 15 year olds. You're going to have to have your *mothers* buy it for you!
Wait, I don't have an ID. Damn you, birth certificaaaaaaaaate.

I can't believe how many people are down on BC just because the controls do something different and you need to spend more than 2 minutes learning them. I'm really excited that Capcom's team is trying a style that gives you FAR MORE control and interaction than pretty much any other big-budget action game has the balls to do.

I wish Midway had the brains not to knock Mortal Kombat vs DC down to a teen rating. Lil bastards are gunna get it one way or another.... I always did.

Why must stupid bureaucracy get in the way of game sales? Postpone it for a month and get more sales from the teens. This is very angering.
