At Mason Middle School in Tacoma, WA, a 13-year-old boy stole one of the guns from his father's collection and brought it in with the intent of trading it for a PSP, kirotv reports. Whatever happened to kids trading pogs?
The student who brought in the gun has been placed in juvenile detention, however a second gun is still missing from the father's collection. It was believed to also be in the school, but the report doesn't confirm if the police have discovered the missing firearm.

Why didn't he just use the Gun to force the other kid to give him a PSP?

I grew up in a family of hunters/outdoorsmen and the guns in the house were pretty much available to us all once we were old enough to have been trained to respect them and use them properly (from about 10 to 12 years old).
I'm not saying that's the case here, just pointing out that kids and guns are not necessarily mutually exclusive in all families. I think the biggest problems with kids and guns happen when parents haven't taken the time to teach their children proper use, safety, care and respect of the weapons.

There is still a period of time when the children are not going to appreciate/understand gun safety, and you need said instruments locked away until then.
To assume they make it to 10-12 without playing with one of them and hurting themselves is pretty irresponsible.

Why in the world would he think this was a good idea?
That must have been one hell of a PSP.

The only thing that picture needs to go with it is the end-of-level Doom music.

What about the kid who was trying to receive the gun? That doesn't send out any Red Flags to anyone?

Video games: they make our kids put down guns to play!
That's the message we should be taking home from this.

Sounds like this kid got a better trade-in deal than anything GameStop would've offered.
