Fans of the first-person parkour simulator Mirror's Edge are bound to enjoy this video discovered by the BBPS (embedded after the break). In the video, you'll see a very talented man perform all kinds of parkour antics, all shot from a first-person viewpoint. He even managed to find some surprisingly colorful surroundings to make it feel more like the game. It's all very impressive until around 2:05 into the video, at which point we realized it was filmed by awizard.
To think such a powerful man would waste his time making silly videos.
The difference being that Parkour is less about practicality of getting from place to place ASAP, than it is about generally looking classy and doing backflips, correct?
"Parkour as a discipline emphasizes efficiency, whilst free running embodies complete freedom of movement — and includes many acrobatic maneuvers." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_running
If he was trying to copy Mirror's Edge he did do it well for the running parts, but why did he not realize that magic + bikes + skateboards didn't fit?
Why wasn't he being shot at? no attack chopper either, taking several bullets is his ass, but KO'd in 2 punches..? don't know what version he played, but the Mirrors Edge I did was an 'acrobatic shooter' beyond the training level. not free running or parkour..
This is not THAT impressive when you consider that he only does about 10 seconds worth of tricks at a time and then edits the whole thing together. And there is probably a lot of retakes in there. But the card and dice thing is good though, but that is probably trick photography.
Ghost-ride that whip! And of course he's into dice-stacking and card tricks too, he's got that 'Man on Wire' vibe happening - including the 'film yourself so others can appreciate how awesome you are' ego thing. Cool video. I was surprised to see that he hand-held a camera, rather than used some sort of apparatus, that's amazing.
