Before reading on, we beg of you, our dearest readers, to heed this solemn warning. Do you remember that magical feeling that filled you the first time you crossed the aquatic threshold into Bioshock's labyrinthian metropolis, Rapture? That warm, gooey feeling of excitement and wonder? If you read Gamespot's recent all-inclusive, spoiler-filled preview of 2K Marin's highly anticipated follow-up, you'll probably be robbed of that feeling the first time you boot up Bioshock 2. Trust us. We made the sacrifice to pass this news onto you, and we're pretty sure we won't be able to get to sleep tonight.
If you absolutely must know what tantalizing details Gamespot dug up, you can check out their video featurette, which we've posted after the jump. Just don't come crying to us when you learn that the original Bioshock was actually just a dream sequence. (Oops! Sorry!)

Wow. I'm completely blown away.
Any fears I had of this game not living up to expectations were almost entirely dispelled by this one video.
Can't wait!

I watched the video, and i am now more confused, for example one of the guys says bioshock 2 begins several years after the first game, well i dont wanna start spoliing the game.
But my question is, is bioshock 2 a actual sequel or a prequel, because how can u be the first prototype big daddy, when jack was in the game?

Well, seeing as how the Big Sister is a Little Sister that went back to Rapture, I'm gonna go on a limb and say sequel. Also, they'll probably say "Oh, it's because the first Big Daddy was sleeping waaaaaaay over here at this one place where Jack never went!" to explain as to how Jack never fought him or something.

My assumption would be that in BioShock 1, I don't remember there being any reason to assume you killed ALL the Big Daddies - so there you have it, like they said you only saw a small fraction of what Rapture had to offer so I'm assuming the very first Big Daddy (who was obviously around at the time) was not in that area of rapture, or maybe had a story related reason to not get involved/unable to, or possibly was on vacation at the beach.

same thing I wrote above basically...unless I'm missing something. Ryan was there in the first game, so was the first big daddy, the two just never met. Now in B2 you'll be playing as that first big daddy AFTER the events when Ryan was there.

How is everyone so confused about you being the first Big Daddy if Bioshock 2 is a sequel? Maybe the first big daddy, wait for it, wasn't in Bioshock 1! Problem solved.

So, Apocalyptica is like what, the official soundtrack band for Bioshock 2?
They used Apocalytica songs for the whole background music of this video.

since the action spills out to the ocean floor do you think there is a chance you'll be able to use the drill against giant enemy crabs?

Wait I thought this was going to be a prequel. Why do they say it takes place after the first one if it's supposed to be a prequel?

I have to say, the more i see of this, the more i want it now!
I'm kinda surprised the splicer didn't stick to the drill but actually drilling the opponent was cool. I bet the drills are going to have durability or fuel.
hope for melee upgrades this time as well and not just plasmids to up the damage.
as for the first big daddy, if you saw the opening hes laying asleep in the water, kinda looked like he had been sitting on display in a room. since hes the prototype he probably didn't get the brainwashing the other big daddies got

Gotta say that at first "playing as a Big Daddy" was a fucking heinous idea. Then I watched this video, and I realized - there's a guy in there. The guy has a story, and it's probably fucking awesome. If he has been dormant through the fall of Rapture, he's probably just as oblivious as Tabula Rasa Jack from Bio1, and his past also serves as a good source of mystery.
I love the new ideas, especially the ones that involve time, evolution and chaos taking over the microcosmic biosphere. It got proper fucked after just one year... imagine five years, ten years of that going on. Messed up Splicers that have been living with plasmids for most of their lives, coral reefs inside massive areas that have had structural failures, slugs taking over subsystems and perhaps even... splicer babies. Imagine. SPLICER BABIES.
The first trailer sucked because it looked the same and you had a drill. Now, listening to all these ideas - consider me rehyped.

Ow don't forget they said we wont be in constant survival mode. they said there will be areas you can just walk around and explore, and we will be able to interact with nonsplicer humans.
don't forget we can use the rivet gun now!

Not too excited about the Rivet gun. It's not like the gravity gun in Half-Life 2 which was something totally new and special and all the cool kids wanted one. I had it in Quake back when it was called a nail gun, anyway.
Also, interacting with humans is a good idea... it's a shame they had to mention they're doing this to please the fans. Call me weird since I totally know there's always that undertone of fan service in sequels but I'd rather see an evolution of the artistic core behind such a sequel to the prodigy of a truly classic game (SS2), not superimposed fan pleasing.
Also SS2 should totally be remade. I'd buy it at standard cost. Hell, I'd get the collector's edition with the psi-amp yo yo and Shodan plushie.

the video is pretty safe to watch. Unfortunately the sequel sounds like too much fan service and fans really don't know what they want or would enjoy.

Bahhh.... playing it too safe. Should have been a "Spiritual" successor to Bioshock, taking place in an entirely new enviroment. Or several. Jungle... Arctic... Orbital Space station...moon base...subterranean. Maybe a "Savage Lands" type of place for you Comic Book fans.
This looks like a probable good game, but I am dissapointed that they chose the "More of the same" route. It will still probably be okay, but it could have been better with a bit more vision on the developers part, IMO.
