For another week in the United Kingdom, Godfather II has managed to secure the illustrious second spot on the top entertainment software list. According to Chart-Track, this is the second week in a row the game has been in the number two spot -- but there are some titles releasing to the PAL territory that could topple this kingpin. It'll be interesting to see what the charts look like next week.
Of course, Godfather II was predictably bested again by Wii Fit, so it's not all gabbagool and broken kneecaps in the UK. Not yet, anyway ...

Its kind of ironical that Wiifit should be topping the charts when tv keeps going on about how the UK has the largest number of obese people in Europe and increasing ¬_¬
It goes to show that people are buying.........but not using.

I enjoyed Godfather. The last 20% or so might have been a slog, but for what it was, I liked it. A solid 7.0 and a good rental.

It's a decent rental for sure. I wish every "GTA" like game would adopt this Map, and Mini-Map. They're excellent for seeing routes through the city, and how to get through a building.
There's one or two small "fetch" quests right at the end, but they take 20 minutes total. Not a big deal. Don't expect the movie plot or anything, you exist as an outlier to the Corleone family. You run your own show.
There were way more businesses to take over in the first one, but they got EXTREMELY repetitive after a while. They cut down the overall numbers in this game, so it's only mildly repetitive. On the downside, you're forced to get all of them to complete the game.

I say GFII holds 1st spot in UK charts (no offense but wii Fit shouldn't count as anything).

The thing about the game is it does a lot of different things well but nothing great. There are also a ton of bugs in the game some of which are crippiling. The graphics themsel are essentially on par with a high end Wii game or low level PS3/360 game. The bugs really take away from the experience in my opinion. I can't really reccommend that you go out and purchase it for full price. So, either wait for an inevitable price drop, clearance sale, cheap used copy or go out and rent the game.
The Don View is very awesome and is the best thing about the game. Now, I didn't beat the game or anything and my experience was with the 360 version at my brothers house. So, I can't speak to all of the games content but some of the bugs are absurd. For instance, cars will dissappear after you get out of them sometimes, no collission detection to speak of (things go through other things all the time) and sometimes bulletts will get stuck in mid air like they hit an invisible piece of shielding.
If you get it just don't take it seriously and you could have fun with it. The shame is that it wasn't made to be tounge and cheek but it comes off that way instead of like the films. With Mafia II releasing sometime in the near future I would just wait for that. If you have to get this game do yourself a favor and rent it. It's not worth $65.

The Godfather II was an awesome game. I beat it in about a week and a half. Didn't take too long. The graphics are kinda last-generation...almost like Scarface for PS2. EA still hasn't mastered next-generation technology, but that's ok. The game was fun. Online is so-so.

"Master Next-Generation technology"? Ever heard of the little game called Crysis? That's Next-Generation.

Its rubbish. Please stop buying it, they'll make another.
The reasons I give are...
1) Its so very very very easy.
2) The auto aim is far too accurate.
3) Multiplayer was a bolt on and feels it.
4) Whats the point in adding gang members with skills when you can hot swap them mid mission? Tactical? er....no.
5) Its bugged to hell and back.
Pro's for it are...
1) its short
2) you can get a whole 1000 achievement score in under 6.5 hours. Thats good going if your into the whole point thing.
