They wouldn't be able to reuse much of that since Interplay owns all the assets, even though the franchise IP is owned by Bethesda. It's far more likely they will reuse the Fallout 3 engine and simply create a new worldspace to play in.

The question really is whether you will be able to connect Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas with the same character traveling between them, but the details thus far seem to indicate no.

I will never buy another fallout game till Bethesda get there crap together and fix Fallout 3 version for the PS3.

I can understand that MS put a lot of money for the D.L.C. for Fallout 3 for the 360 and the game is good already without D.L.C. already.

But I don't want to play a game that have freeze frequent and have a great possibly damaging PS3 Hardware.

Someone needs force Todd Howard to play the PS3 version to see how much of a crap job he made for this game.

maybe u should get a 360, the entire multiplayer interface is way better than playstations, and we get DLC, not 2 mention the only reason 2 own a ps3 was the metal gear franchise, which is now going 2 b offered on the box, so................bad investment on your part my friend

It was interesting how the Enclave in Fallout 2 were going to wipe out everyone mutated from Earth by distributing FEV into the atmosphere whereas in Fallout 3, their only trying to kill those in the Capital Wasteland. Well, the Enclave did get their ass kicked in Fallout 3, so I guess they had to scale back their operations a bit.

Its a totally new game, not related to and probably not using the Fallout 3 engine. Here's to hoping Obsidian makes some kind of spiritual successor to F1 and F2, as much as I did enjoy Fallout 3 and VATS in particular.

It would be an extremely poor business decision not to reuse the Fallout 3 engine. I find that highly unlikely.

Chris Avellone, co-owner of Obsidian, was the designer of New Reno, just to nerd it up a bit.

You can download several mods that add armor (leather, metal) or suit variations (radiation, clothing) for Dogmeat on Fallout 3 Nexus. :)

I have no idea why they even mention the PS3, or why they are even bothering... It was a better version than the 360 but with no DLC... I would have to trade in my PS3 version AGAIN to replay it on the 360 to get my DLC

For all that this is excellent news, I'm a bit disappointed that it's not an Elder Scrolls 5 announcement. I'm more of a fantasy RPG fan and would love to hear about a new Elder Scrolls. Until then though I can just keep playing Oblivion, cause, you know, it's huge and all that.

I like this, because for one I love fallout, but I also love the mystique and glamour behind 50's Vegas, the world of Sinatra and The Rat Pack, the Oasis in the desert.

Now, with that being said, is this an expansion? I'm still unclear.

I would think that they could maybe do an Area 51 adventure since that's in Nevada too :)

Maybe there will be a New Reno DLC, but honestly it's probably too similar to Vegas (but smaller). Although I would like to play in New Reno again just for the shits and giggles since I live in Reno now.

I'm just happy though that they plan on making another Fallout game. There were far too many years between F2 and F3.

My only hope right now for RPG resurrections is a BG3.

First: epic fail on the title. Better than ODST, but that isn't saying much.

Second, KOTOR 2 was fucking amazing, even though I had a few problems with the plot... and the immense amount of glitches.

And third, if I am shortchanged on dlc again, i'm going to be really pissed. The PS3 and pc users without live made up more of the sales than xbox users, so why do we not get dlc? Or at least the big ones, like what happened with oblivion. I couldn't care less about getting anchorage, but ones that make my game non-canon just aren't cool to keep from the whole community. I shouldn't have to buy a new console to play the version of a game i paid for with the actual ending to the latest game in my second favorite series of games(the first being final fantasy).

As a long-time fan of the Fallout series, I am begging you: Please do NOT sign any kind of exclusive DLC deals with ANYONE! I am very frustrated by the fact that I can't get the Fallout 3 DLC just because I bought the game for the PS3.

it takes longer to translate the dlc to the playstation format since they are developed for the 360 first, bethesda always had plans to import the dlc 2 ps3, it just takes time

If its going to be released in 2010, this was a pretty well pre-planed project. Likely going to be much like Fallout 3, but not a direct sequel to Fallout 3... And NO, Fallout 3 was NOT a spin-off, or re-telling. It is accurate to all pre-existing storyline, it just happens to be in a different time period... Saying Fallout 3 isn't a sequel is like,
saying Assassin's Creed II isn't going to be sequel for being in the Renaissance. Fallout 3, just like Vegas isn't a direct sequel, but it is now apart of the main line as of 2008. Anything else would, and could be considered a prequel to Fallout 3, and any prequel of Fallout 3 would be indirect side sequels of Fallout 2.

I can't wait - this is the perfect opportunity for Obsidian to not have to worry about engine work and just make a really dark story. Who knows, they might even do something humoursly broken with VATS.

We talked about this on the games-and-industry podcast Visiting The Village (www.visitingthevillage.com) this week.

This idea has a huge potential in my oppinion, bethesda took it to a whole new level of gameplay in the fallout series and now gave it to the original creators of 1 and 2, so i'm guessing we will see some of the original things that were left out of fallout 3 in this one, but with the same engine? which would end up being the best fallout, as far as i'm concerned!

vegas is the perfect place for a new fallout game. i mean who wouldn't love to gamble and get hookers? i think this game is going to be amasing.

and to einhanderkiller, they said they were going to use the same engine and tools as in fallout 3 (so bethesda's version)
