It always slumps because noone releases any games (except Capcom and Activision with 300 versions of guitar hero)

Well well well.... what if I go buy Mad World? Or, like, Henry Hatsworth? Can I save the day?

Big surprise. The first 6 months of the year, in which only a handful of major titles are released, is in a slump compared to the the last 6, which includes the biggest set of gift-giving holidays in the world (and the biggest retail season), as well as 75% of all major and minor releases. Even Grimoire is supposed to come out in that time period. It won't, but then it's just like Duke Nukem Forever.

MAY 1, 2009. THAT WILL BE A DAY TO REMEMBER. THE DAY WE SAID ENOUGH! ENOUGH TO THE HIGH PRICE WE PAY EVERY TIME WE WANT TO KICK SOMEONE IN THE HEAD, SHOOT SOMEONE IN THE FACE, SHOOT SOMEONE IN THE FACE AGAIN! YES MY FELLOW COUNTRYMEN,THIS WILL BE THE DAY WE SAID NO. NO TO THE PRICE OF GAMES(for the 360,PS3). MEN(and women), THIS DAY WILL MARK A PERIOD IN TIME WHEN FOR A MONTH, MOST PEOPLE INTO VIDEO GAMES(or just the hardcore) MADE THE BIG GUYS DROP. DROP THEIR PRICE OF A GAME FROM THE IRRESPONSIBLE, SELFISH, TOTALLY BOGUS 60 DOLLARS, TO THE REASONABLE, ACCEPTABLE, COMMENDABLE PRICE OF JUST $49.99(or lower). MEN, WOMEN, CHILDREN, JOIN ME ON THAT DATE, TILL THE END OF THAT MONTH, FOR WE WILL END THIS NONSENSE ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!!1!!!!!1!!

I say this for all people when I say that this spike in the price of games is too much, and it has gone on for way too long. Why did we let this happen? Haven't video games always been 50 bucks? I don't want to live in a world that raises game prices an extra 5-10 dollars every generation.

P.S.
NO SERIOUSLY, LETS DO THIS! DON'T BUY ANY GAMES FOR THE MONTH OF MAY. NO GOOD GAMES ARE COMING OUT NEXT MONTH ANYWAY. And if there is well, then..... BUY THEM THE MONTH AFTER!!!!!!! just think about it.

Dude I would totally back you up, but I'm an old-school RPG gamer. It is rare to see one of my brand of RPG release these days, especially on the PS3. Cross Edge comes out May 19th, and I've gotta have it. The good news is that it's MSRP is $49.99($46.99 on Amazon), so at least there's that...... Other than that, I've got your back....

Games that are 49.99 are ok, I don't have a problem with them. just stay away from games in the month of may that are between $50.01 and $60.00. Tell your friends if you want.

I can kinda see it, if we're talking about comparing month over year.

March 2008 had Brawl
April 2008 had Mario Kart Wii and GTAIV
May 2008 had Wii Fit
June 2008 had Metal Gear Solid 4

March had RE5. Big, but nowhere near Brawl. Pokemon Platinum
April has jack, especially going up against what became two of the top-selling games of 2008
May stacks up even worse (nothing near so grand as Wii Fit). Nintendo is going to push Punch-Out!! and give it the full nine yards in terms of hype and whatnot, but i wonder at how successful they'll be.

Wii Sports Resort should move some big units, but does anything come sooner than that that should really make a splash? And i suppose July is technically the 2nd half...

yeah, games should just be 49.99, end of story. A lot of these games get DLC which only takes more from the wallets.
