The blur is depth of field and is there to give it a presentation feel like when watching it on TV. They have a blog about the new feature http://insideblog.easports.com/archive/2009/03/24/breaking-down-quot-the-shot-quot-the-first-madden-nfl-10-screenshot.aspx. Check it out, you might learn something.

I'm not saying it was bad to do it, but lets be honest.. the blur has nothing to do with the actual game, they just wanted to hide the shitty always glitchy animations.

But, I'm still going to pay 60 bucks and be pissed off when I play it. Damn you EA!

So....., is referee's falling the new feature in Madden 10? What next, the Gatorade guy getting punched in the face because he gave a player water instead?

well i think that is a relevant addition. i don't play Madden all that much (my friends love it so i play every now and then) but i know that before you could just run right through the ref like he was hollow. but anyone who watches NFL ball knows that refs get knocked around all over the place during games. it's pretty common to see a linebacker or receiver getting tangled up with a ref out there. makes it more realistic i guess.

@LordChimp

Actually you are right... The collision detection for referee is a new feature. You use to be able to just run right threw them but know you can run them over...yes. Make a bad call now...

after last season when refs were getting in the way and i think one just about tackled a player i hope you can run them over. or there should be a mode that lets you play as a zebra trying not to get in the way but you have to keep up and keep watching the play

Wow, first they innovate by giving us bad calls and now refs can interfere in plays?

If there's a frustrating part of a sport that you just wish with all hope could be fixed in real life, rest assured "it's in the game".

I'm glad refs can get knocked down now when they get in the way and not just cause receivers to stop instantly as he collides into the unmovable objects that were the refs in recent years of Madden.

It's obvious they wanted to show that the Wildcat was in the game, so Brown under center, throwing, handing off, etc.

Wildcat, in case you didn't get it the first 3 times. Judging by the fact that it was all the craze last year and you couldn't watch Sportscenter for about 6 months without them mentioning it, I'd say you didn't catch it the first 3 times.

Wildcat? You mean the FLASH formation that the Browns used in 2007 with Josh Cribbs? :P I know what it is, but why would you showcase that?

Because it was VERY popular last season. People might actually buy the game just because of it.

People would buy the game if they didn't change anything since PS2. This is an NFL game. Just "NFL" sells 4 million copies at least.

No but seriously I like this feature and I'm sure I'll use it 3 or 4 times in the next year.

Any formation that helps us beat both AFC finalists from the previous season, back to back, is made of win.

Ronnie Brown created a legend using the Wildcat that would stand against any in Dolphins lore that day against the Pats, even going up against Marino's Clock Play and Camarillo's catch against the Ravens - four rushing TDs and one passing!

That's why everyone's still playing Madden 06, right? Go rent a copy of 06 and 09. Play them both and tell me it's just a roster update. You're a fool.

I hate people who make stupid comments like this before having any ideal about the game. Madden has been blogging for about two months now about all the changes in Madden 10... http://insideblog.easports.com/. And the game doesn't even come out until August. They have been putting to rest the rumor of just a roster update. Please check it out yourself.
If you don't like sports games thats cool but don't be a retard when commenting about it... To be honest Madden adds more to its game the next year then any other sports game.

Go out and buy Madden NFL 2005 on PS2 and then come and tell me which game had more features dumbass.

I buy the "roster update" every year and I still admit that the game is a fucking piece of trash.

But I owned NFL 07 for PS3, and NFL 09 is much better than that, sure. But it still doesn't beat ESPN 2k5 or Madden 2005 on the PS2. Until they can accomplish that, I'm not impressed.

I think they should redo all of the menus. Nobody likes them, they are so slow and not very efficient. Its the small things like that 2k sports and others care about that EA doesn't. Am I ignorant just because I want my NFL game to actually care about making even the little things the best they can be?

Haha, I'm right there with you.

I WISH the game were just roster updates, starting with about Madden 2004 and never changing since then. Madden 2004 was the epitome of the series imho.

Once they switched over to the next gen systems things took a huge step backwards because they tried to re-innovate.

As a dolphins fan, I'm excited to see the Wildcats in Madden.

As a madden fan, I'm very scared to see the Wildcat is in Madden.

The Panthers just became the #1 team in madden 10, assuming the formation works.

Wildcat! Wait how come the Dolphins logo on the helmet is a mix of the pre-1996 version and the modern one? The sun is the old version and the Dolphin is the now version. Kinda strange.

That's a great observation about the helmets.

I wasn't going to buy this game just for the fact that I didn't play 09 that much and still have like 4 ps3 games that I own and haven't played but being a huge Dolphins fan and knowing I can play with the wildcat, I think I may just pick it up.

I've yet to read the developers blog but hopefully there are some good upgrades that make it worth 60

I'd also like to see actual screen shots of when you are playing the game and not the replay angles and shots. I rarely watch replays so if the dop if only there, it's kind of a waste.

There doesnt really seem to be that many improvements that'd make me want to buy this game. Hopefully they'll release some more before it comes out
