Ubisoft dates first HAWX DLC, leaX upcoming content

and $4.99, respectively -- and includes six new vehicle variations from the "robust" Saab-37 Viggen to the FB-22 prototype bomber.Along with the press release, Ubisoft sent us a gaggle of images for the content... as well as images for content that wasn't announced. A folder marked Russian Falcons included images of five yet-to-be-announced aircraft and a folder titled US Eagles revealed another five, including the sleek A-12 Avenger. HAWX fans should keep their discs handy, as it looks like this one is getting a few more upgrades in the near future.

Let me be the first to say... HAWWWWX!
butaneko @ Apr 21st 2009 4:49PM
The demo for this game was pretty fun. I'll buy it on sale eventually. My backlog is getting kind of redonkulous.
Dirty @ Apr 21st 2009 4:57PM
I thought the demo was fun too, but the game was pretty boring. I was hoping for more of an arcade experience, but found it trying to be both arcade and sim and wasn't much fun. My take at least. Im sure it would be worth it at a steep discount. Like how I just got Starwars TFU for 11 bucks.
Hotaru Tomoe @ Apr 21st 2009 7:34PM
Was there a demo for the 360? My ancient PC would probably choke to death on the PC version. How much like Ace Combat 6 is this game?
ScottG13 @ Apr 21st 2009 4:55PM
Its a good game, but who wants more planes? I beat this badboy in a day and a half. More missions are what's due.
Xav de Matos @ Apr 21st 2009 5:06PM
I guess it's for the online crowd.
Anticrawl @ Apr 21st 2009 5:52PM
I play(ed) the hell out of the online mode but I honestly doubt these new planes will pull me away from some of the gems I already have.
Fluorescent Octopus @ Apr 21st 2009 5:01PM
Bet it doesn't come to Europe at the same time =P
Minecart @ Apr 21st 2009 5:09PM
Wait a sec, I could have sworn the A-12 and the FB22 are already in the game. Weren't they bonus content for pre-orders that were actually just punch-in-codes that you didn't have to pre-order to get? At least, that's how I got them.
Which is a shame, since I loved HAWX and would totally buy some new planes... but not if I'm paying for one (or two) that I already have.
Also, I'd love new multiplayer modes. Only team deathmatch gets a bit tiring... How about some Artemis vs HAWX team modes... Like "Destroy the Aircraft Carrier" or "Protect the AWACS Plane"... I'm just saying, there huge untapped potential for some awesome multiplayer action.
Brady @ Apr 21st 2009 5:10PM
I hope they don't continue to release new planes without any new missions. This game was more fun to play than AC 6 because of the co-op. I hope they are not going down the same path as AC 6 with the DLC.
Minecart @ Apr 21st 2009 5:16PM
After perusing the DLC gallery, I can pick out three planes that I definitely already have (free of charge); XA-20 Razorback, FB-22, and A-12. Hmm. Pretty sure you can get those planes by signing up for a Ubisoft exclusive account thingy or by entering unlock codes along the line of RB, X, A, LB, RT, Start.
Shame on you Ubisoft. Just because your game has like 60 planes and a lot of them look similar, doesn't mean you can sell me stuff that is already freely available!
Anticrawl @ Apr 21st 2009 5:54PM
You can get 3 (F-18, FB-22, A-12) with the button codes and 2 (Saab and Draken) with the Ubisoft exclusive download (both of which you can find/do for free).
Anticrawl @ Apr 21st 2009 5:54PM
Oh right I forgot the XA-20, you can unlock that too for free with either the code or ubisoft thing.
Ex14 @ Apr 21st 2009 7:09PM
Wait what? All these planes are available in the game......Is this a skin pack?
Minecart @ Apr 21st 2009 7:19PM
It looks like three planes that are on the disc already, you just have to unlock by registering as an Ubisoft member (it is in one of the options menus in HAWX) or by punching in a code - just google FB22 unlock code. The DLC pics look like they have identical skins to the in-game ones, too. It seems like only two or three of the 'new' planes are actually new.
Ex14 @ Apr 21st 2009 8:34PM
>.< so this is basically like an "pay us to unlock planes you are too lazy to get" DLC. Damn...ppl really milk their games nowadays.
michael @ Apr 21st 2009 7:53PM
Well, since HAWX is coming out in Japan in late May. Why don't Ubisoft team up with Namco-Bandai and add a Japan-exclusive DLC for HAWX. Like several Fighters from AE6 as a DLC for HAWX. Also, add the idolmaster skins for HAWX fighters, that would be hilarious and also help boost sales in Japan.
Also if Ace Combat 6 get a PS3 port, is it possible that maybe the PS3 can have fighters from HAWX as a bonus or DLC.
Chadwick359 @ Apr 22nd 2009 2:39AM
And most excitingly, the F-111! Gotta love the Aardvark.
Skambu @ Apr 22nd 2009 7:52AM
OH! OH! I C WUT U DID THAR! It has an X because it's extreme... wait. This is quite an eXperimental article if you ask me! Yeah, this is quite an amazing comment, right?
Jay @ Apr 22nd 2009 11:01AM
More like Y.A.W.N. Give us new challenges, not planes.
Oh, and give us a patch so we can, you know, TAKE OFF AND LAND OUR ****ING AIRCRAFT.
The Dark Wayne @ Apr 22nd 2009 1:19PM
what? why? It's not flight sim.
DelSource @ Apr 23rd 2009 12:15PM
The Dark Wayne,
So what?! Where's the rule that only in a flight simulator should you be able to take off and land? I had two or three PS2 flying games in which I could do more than just do a high-G turn and press "X". Would it have hurt them to include a wider flight experience and, I don't know, encourage flight sim enthusiasts (like me) to pick up the game too? I only got it because a friend accidentally ordered two and sold one to me dirt cheap.
Code take off and landing, sell it for a couple of bucks, and people like you can ignore it if they want to just press X all day.
Jay @ Apr 22nd 2009 11:14AM
To those talking of it, you cannot enter cheats to get extra planes for Campaign mode, only adversarial modes.
Minecart @ Apr 22nd 2009 11:32AM
Sure you can. I use 'em all the time. You just have to be a certain level to fly them.
Jay @ Apr 24th 2009 2:02PM
Yes I should have added that point. But the suggestion is they are just unlocked (implying for any user). I mean, I have not got far enough to use them in Campaign myself!
Teph @ Apr 22nd 2009 3:27PM
I'm still thinking about picking this up. I enjoyed the demo, but I have a question for those who have the game- Does it have co-op campaign?
The demo made it seem like it does, but I never really found out for sure.
If it did it would really seal it as a purchase for me.
Minecart @ Apr 22nd 2009 5:51PM
The entire campaign can be played as 4-player drop-in co-op. Pretty neato.
