We're really beginning to understand why more corporate buyouts don't happen. It was reported yesterday that a court has approved the Square Enix purchase of Eidos -- the third and (hopefully) final approval the Japanese publishing house needs before officially acquiring UK-based Eidos. According to Gamasutra, Eidos' board of directors confirmed the transfer of the company's titles Tomb Raider and Deus Ex (among others), while the court has acknowledged its delisting in the company's native country, effective as of last night.
And so it seems all there is left to do now is make silly combinations of the companies' names, as per the image above. Squeidos? Square Enixos? Kane & Enix: Dead Square? Alright, we're reaching a bit much with that last one ... we'll admit it.

Do you think that they will incorporate the name Eidos?
It might not be a smart business move; everyone is so impressed with Square Enix that I don't know if they would want a name change.
Not like Eidos is even close to as popular as Square Enix, which has been one of my favorite companies since it was Squaresoft and it first came out with Secret of Mana.

Again, I have to disagree.
I think that it is not being very controversial to state that Square Enix, which owns the Final Fantasy series, the Mana Series, and a variety of other RPGs that have been well received by both fans and critics has more respect in the gaming community, in general, than Eidos. Though, you certainly have the right to dislike them. My guess is you don't like RPGs.
Eidos, by contrast, only has one recognizable video game franchise; Tomb Raider.
If I were Squaresoft I would not incorporate the name, instead just using Eidos as a division and let them continue working on some of their better games (you don't want Eidos's name to disappear from the Tomb Raider series, for instance.)
I'm surprised you aren't impressed with Square Enix as a business, if not as a video game creator. But I do agree that they have not had as good a shot percentage as of late.

Yeah your right i dont like "JRPG's" specially "Turn Based" & "Random Battles" types, I do love RPG's like fall out to name just 1, and i think you're wrong when you say that only Tomb Rider is important otherwise they woudn't bother with the buyout rite? "Soul Reaver and DEUS EX" comes to mind. S-E is and older player and been puling the same cards over and over again and Eidos is full of potential if things are done properly. sounds like a good combo to me.
Square Enix as a business, werent they about to go bankrupt after the FF movie not to long ago? what about that football game? ...lol
But no really they are both good companies with pros and cons. I do think it would be good for everyone to incorporate Eidos, but i know it wont happen mostly because Japanese practices.

To me, Eidos games have become synonymous with "meh." I hope Square just starts placing properties previously handled by Eidos under the Square Enix brand. Just for a little freshness.
