Though we've known about Lego Rock Band -- more or less, that is -- since early this year, an Xbox.com listing for the game has revealed a few more tidbits to satiate our non-stop hunger for more info on the title. For starters, the game's progression has been revealed as incorporating the Lego theme with collectible Lego pieces that will allow you to, "build cooler vehicles and move to new venues." Furthermore, an extra easy (totally for babies) difficult setting has been added to the game for the ... ahem ... less than face-meltingly-advanced Rock Band-ers in our lives.
To add even more Lego flavor to the mix, the game will feature challenges that allow you to "destroy a giant robot, summon a storm, and demolish a skyscraper." One important bullet-point glaringly missing from all news on the game (and its Beatles-themed brethren, for that matter) is the ability to export the songs into Rock Band 2, a la Rock Band 1's tracks. We've put in a note to publisher MTV Games for clarification on this and will keep you updated if and when we hear more info.

I do believe that really is Jack White as well, since not only the hat is something he'd wear, but the guitar the lego character is holding is very similiar to one of Jack's most used guitars.

That does sound incredibly awesome. Yesterday I was kinda interested in this game. With "destroy a giant robot, summon a storm, and demolish a skyscraper" I am officially stoked. And there's a super-easy setting so my 4 year old can play without getting frustrated?!!? Where do I pre-order?

I am almost completely sure The Beatles: Rock Band will not have export.
Also it would be stupid to allow songs to be exported on release because it would decrease sales and increase rents.

The track packs have had one time codes in the manuals that are used to export the songs. I assume this is the same.
So, you would kinda have to buy it.

The Rock Band 1 export function is different,
You have to download the key for $5 and then go to export songs on RB1.
They might do it like that though, but I doubt it, since Lego Rock Band and The Beatles: Rock Band are supposed to be standalone games.

That's because RB1 came out before they had any idea of what they would end up doing.
The last 3 Rock Band releases, AC/DC Live: Rock Band, RB: Track Pack Vol. 2, and RB: TP: Classic Rock, all have had export codes.
And Rock Band 2 had a code for 20 free songs, which could easily be used to give those people who already redeemed those codes an option to export the songs.
I doubt that, if LEGO: Rock Band were to let you export the songs, it would use the RB1 model.

I think it would be in their interests to allow exports of the songs. Thats the biggest thing going for RockBand right now is the fact that you can play all (excluding a small handful) of your songs without swapping discs. If I were to make a guess I would imagine that you would have the option to export the RB2 songs so you could play them in legoland or vice versa.
It would seem a little weird to release a version that has such a different interface, only to have people use the export feature and never play it again, but I find it hard to believe that Harmonix would go down the Guitar Hero path by making everyone have disc swap to play songs.

all i care about is playing the damn music!! i dont need to build a bunch of lego shit and watch it explode into little pieces. If it is exportable this will easily be a quick rent, otherwise I'm not planning on adjusting to a whole new style of scrolling keys in the form of lego pieces.

@pete because this game is obviously geared towards being kid friendly.
If I can export the tracks to RB2 I'll probably pick this up otherwise I'll probably skip it.
If LRB is compatible with all the DLC and I can export the RB2 tracks to this game that would be less useful but kind of neat.

Because if it's aimed at kids, they need to differentiate the product at retail to win over parents to pony up the cash. Imagine the difference in sales between a DLC skin for Rock Band 2 buried somewhere in the online store, and this bigass video game box in a kids toy store - hell, imagine it sitting IN THE LEGO SECTION.
I was a LEGO lovin' kid once too, and I would go apeshit if I saw this. :D
A DLC skin would mean that only parents who already play Rock Band would be aware of it.

Yeah, Rock Band for kids is actually pretty fuckin' genius. My daughter loves to watch me play Rock Band, but isn't quite coordinated enough to play herself. This would make for some awesome family time.

Are you kidding me?
"SQUARES AND CIRCLES ARE SO RIDICULOUSLY DIFFERENT. IT'S GONNA BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO GET USED TO PLAYING THIS GAME! IT'LL BE FAR HARDER FOR ME TO PLAY THIS, EVEN IF IT IS A KID'S GAME!"
Uh, yeah. Wait until you play the game before saying you won't know how to play it.

You'll have to wait for LEGO Technic: Rock Band if you want to ramp up the difficulty.

I'm curious as to why I'm getting downvoted. I didn't see in any of the press release info or on Xbox.com whether or not this would have the same difficulty levels as regular Rock Band. I guess I can assume it does, and all the talk of being "family friendly" just means a "super-easy" mode.
