NCsoft has announced that it's bringing its stable of MMOs to Valve's Steam distribution platform. Starting right damn now, you can download Lineage, Lineage II, City of Heroes and every flavor of Guild Wars. Lineage II and Guild Wars Game of the Year Edition are even on sale. NCsoft's upcoming MMO Aion will also be made available on Steam when it launches later this year. The press release notes that there will be more deals on NCsoft games in the coming weeks.
So, is it too soon for a Tabula Rasa joke?

If you already have a GW account and download and sign in through Steam, will you have access to all of the EOTN material?

I wonder if it is possible to merge my accounts. I have all GW except EOTN, but wouldn't mind linking it to my steam account.

Do you guys have to be douchebags about every service that gets shut down? Making fun of Tabula Rasa. You made fun of FileFront, and even suggested we use YOUR own service, which, quite frankly, isn't nearly as good. Thank God FileFront came back to crush your dreams of what could have been. This kind of crap is starting to irritate me, and I'm sure other people as well, I'm getting close to quitting this site.

That's a new one. I've never seen a fanboy of a paid utility service before. But then, as a programmer, I've seen smack talk for far dorkier things.
Java4Life Dawg.

I'm confused as to why this is newsworthy.
You can already log into your PlayNC account and download the client, purchase new game codes and other in-game benefits for Guild Wars and City of Heroes on the PlayNC site. All this does is give people a place to do it that Valve controls.
Whooo diddly woo.

I didn't know that. Know why? Because I don't play any of those games. Lots of people (heh) don't.
Seems to me like putting their stuff on one of the most popular forms of video game digital distribution would be a great way to get new customers. Especially considering they're advertising the hell out of all these games on Steam's homepage right now.

There's supposed to be a (relatively compared to what we've been getting recently) large content update sometime tonight for Guild Wars, actually. Even though the various melodramatic fan forums would disagree, Guild Wars is still very much alive, and despite the lack of new content (they're intent on developing Guild Wars 2,) it's still got a LOT to do, and it's got relatively little grind compared to other MMOs and requires some degree of skill, so I'd recommend it for just about anyone who wants to play an MMO without selling their soul to the developer.

Yeah, like I said, there's definitely a huge amount of content but for those of us who've been playing for four years now, things have obviously run dry a bit.
The storage upgrades will be great, but doesn't really give me any reason to start playing again. But there's very few other games that have lasted me a good 3-4 years.

Why even bother with Steam? These are all server-based games anyway. It's not like Steam is going to prevent all that rampant piracy of CoH and Guild Wars...? They're account-based, not copy-based.
I'm becoming less of a fan of Steam. I am not fond of the fact that I can pay for something, and if I call Gabe fat, maybe he'll deactivate it in a fit of rage one day. Maybe the internet will explode. Maybe Valve will go under and "forget" to unlock all the games due to IP issues.
I'll buy DRM/cripple stuff, but since they don't have to worry about piracy with those versions, I expect to pay substantially less.
