.....as if hackers absolutely need to crack the software on day 1.

I'm sure many times before they've changed the encryption tables and vary shortly after... welcome new custom firmware. I can't see this being much of a problem at all tbh.

Sony, Microsoft & Nintendo as well as all the movie studios and so on need to band together and Kill Piracy once and for all. Piracy is destroying everything it's just gone too far.

What is the point of this post? Don't get me wrong, I love my PSP as-is... UMDs and all. But no one wins with proprietary systems, especially when there is an opportunity here for community-based content without the ability to pirate software. That sounds like a fairer compromise to me.

I think it is obvious that Sony hasn't won, but is always in an on-going battle to keep up with piracy, something that is consistently rampant. Bottom line, this is a war that Sony can't win right now.

Annoying, would actuely really like the new options on my phatCFW..
Is it just me or is Sony making the PSP more and more encrypted? (harder to crack?) Is it even the encryption? Hmm.. ? ANSWER SOMEONE!

Remember they said the same thing about 3.52? Yeah...that only gave birth to the godlike firmware m33 so be surprised if it happens again.

good. Piracy has no place in games. Movies is a different story due to theatres and music by radio, but games have nowhere but sales to make money.

"We can't say we agree with Sony's countless efforts to thwart piracy via PSP firmware updates"

What via is the way to thwart piracy on PSP then?

Probably because there aren't enough new features to make it really tantalizing to the hackers. The latest one over here is still 5.00.

not surprised, especially with HEN about to be released for the PSP 3000, 2000, and 1000. I read about this on quite a few sites already and that Sony patch the Tiff Exploit.

All kidding aside I read this on a few site yesterday but as always if someone has the time and resources to hack the PSP it probably will happen.

Hmmm, well I'm sure someone will find a work around for it. If not then so be it. I'm sure sony wants to put a stop to the hacking before LBP comes out.

I looked at the information page on one of my downloaded games, and it had 'start date', 'hours left', and 'expires on' fields in there. I don't remember seeing those before; did I just miss it, or was that added in this firmware update? Because if it was added, it could be a sign that they ARE preparing for UMD backups. I'll keep crossing my fingers, anyway.

The problem I see here is that "take a break" won't be interpreted by Sony as "dedicate those resources to putting something worthwhile in firmware updates and making the thing less of a genuine hassle to do non-gaming things on" so much as "sit there and twiddle your thumbs until the inevitable crack, fix that, rinse and repeat." That it's taken them until now to make the system recognize subfolders absolutely does not bode well for the future of user-friendliness for the thing.

Release FFVII on the Playstation Store and I'll stop using hacked Firmware.

Or just more PS1 games in general. Main reason I use hacked is so I can play my PS1 collection on the go.

Uhhmm...This means absolutely nothing. Usually a new PSAR Dumper is created for each incremental update that Sony puts out. Sure, would love to see the piracy stop on the PSP, but this sure doesn't mean anything and isn't a warrant for news.

The people who get so pissed off at pirates are pissed because they aren't smart enough to figure out how to hack their psp and do it themselves. Everyone loves things for free!

i reckon if sony added the ability to run unassigned application like the ipod touch and iphone then alot of people wont find the need for hacking but of course there are some people who do it for pirating.
