Guitar Hero: Smash Hits (now with more Guitar Hero II)

Activision has been holding open voting to determine in what order Guitar Hero: Smash Hits' tracks will be revealed. First came tracks from the first Guitar Hero, now followed by the second winner: Guitar Hero II. We imagine the slow process of revealing the Smash Hits tracks is kind of like when Voltron forms, except there are no animals involved and it takes way longer. After giving the list a once-over ourselves, we're confident fans will be satisfied with what's here.

As per our thing, we've tucked the list past the break so all 3 of you that have never played Guitar Hero II can see what the fuss is about.

I'm thinking that YYZ on the drums and bass will lead to uncontrollable muscle spasms.

It's available as Rock Band DLC.

Hopefully they let you play YYZ as a full band and just have the singer sit down for a song or something. Whenever I play Rock Band it's with 4+ people so YYZ never gets played because we don't want to take the time to go out, take a character off, reselect characters (there's always that one friend who has to scroll through all their options a couple times before choosing a person they aren't even going to see), play song, readd character, go through picking characters again, etc etc...just to play YYZ. On the other hand there are plenty of times when the singer needs a break, it would be so nice to take a break during YYZ.

Actually in GH metallica allows the full band to play Orion although its an instrumental, so I assume the same applies here.

Am I the only one who desperately wanted Possum Kingdom? I mean, I know it's easy and the note pattern isn't anything special, but it's such a damn good song.

It'll be the radio edit which isn't near as good as the full song.

It's probably the terrible cover version that they used in GH2.

It's not, because, as Neversoft stated before, this game will be all master tracks.

re-recorded by the same band just isn't the same though.. Sometimes I'd rather have a cover band who's still in their 20s do it.

With *possibly* a few exceptions - there seem to be a few to all the band games in the last two years or so - the original tracks used in Smash Hits should be just that, the ORIGINAL tracks. Not re-recordings by the original artists or by a cover group.

Good, alot of songs I've been wanting to play from GH 2's setlist since I never got it. I'll probably eventually pick this up when I get through all the other great games coming out and already out this year though.

I actually did like it for a few months before GH2 came out, but now all I can think about is finger cramp.

To everybody complaining that songs have horrible covers, EVERY song in this game is a master track.

You know, I'm actually looking forward to this. Being able to play the master tracks of "Killer Queen", "Freebird" and "The Trooper" will be pretty sweet.

I think they confirmed all masters. However, I have seen rumors that Freebird will be live and thus might have an ending as stupid as Sweet Home Alabama.

I don't know, this better be all masters, and if they are covers it better not be the shitty GH1 and GH2 covers.

Actually buying a new game is cheaper. If you add up 2 bucks for all the songs on Guitar Hero: Metallica, it'd be more expensive than the seperate game.

It's gonna be hard to justify a purchase of this one especially since I have a lot of them as Rock Band tracks already. It's still so tempting, though.

what part of ALL MASTER TRACKS do ppl not understand? Its one of the main selling points. On a side note, I would have liked Institutionalized, over Trippin, STP and Nirvana are highly overrated.
