Sony teases 'electrifying' inFamous, Uncharted 2 news

Sony has released a most unusual teaser clip (above) via its YouTube PlayStation channel, which indicates some sort of announcement regarding two PS3-exclusives, inFamous and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, will be made on Monday, April 27. The publisher recently held preview events for both titles, the coverage embargoes on which just so happen to lift on -- you guessed it -- April 27.

We know what's going on with Nate Drake's new adventure -- and seriously can't wait to tell you on Monday -- but we didn't attend Sucker Punch's open house event. Sony did promise the latter would give a sneak peek at new inFamous content, though.

Scrutinizing today's video, we see Cole McGrath, the hero/anti-hero of inFamous crackle with electricity, followed by a promotional shot of Uncharted 2 in which an electrical transformer explodes. Our best, total guesses: either Cole will somehow be a playable character in Uncharted 2 (his powers do "reach into" the game during the video) or inFamous will include a playable demo of Naughty Dog's latest. Either would be "electrifying" announcements in our book. Which one would you like to happen most?

I can't wait to get my hands on uncharted 2. and judging from the leaked gameplay video, at least some of the game is finished enough for a short demo or co-op/mutliplayer beta. thats what I'm hoping for. a playable character just doesn't cut it for me as an "electrifying announcement"

Yeah, a playable character from another Sony game does nothing but cheapen both games in my mind.
Playable demo would be awesome, and smart on Sony's behalf.

If you could actually shoot lightning with the guy in Uncharted, then it would be cool. If it's just a character skin then it's a waste of time.

If you can play as the Infamous guy in Uncharted 2 and he can still shoot lightning from his hands, then they may as well throw some other randoms in there, like Godzilla/Hulk Hogan/Kamen Rider/The Shadow...y'know, for the randomness. :-)

Either that or finally the confirmation of its MP

If theres an Uncharted 2 demo on InFamous I would buy that game!!
or maybe theyre just going to include some new videos and screens on the game.

Don't know why people want multiplayer in them anyways. They're gonna be a great story driven single player experience.

I couldn't agree more.
There are very few games I play for multiplayer. I prefer a rich single player experience. If they do add MP, I'll still play it, but I really hope they don't lose focus on the SP.

According to a site that I won't reveal right now, someone leaked for them some exclusive info about Uncharted 2, that other gaming sites would reveal on the 27th. They are the only site that published the info because they did not take part in any Sony event and they did not had to sign a contract that would keep the silent until Monday. The info are that Uncharted 2 will have a kind of multiplayer and Co-OP completely different from the Single Player campaign.

As for inFamous I really hope that it will include a demo for Uncharted 2.

Well that's a bummer. I hate this trend of tacking on useless multiplayer on single player games. At least I'll know what to blame if the single player isn't up to snuff now.

Hey, as long as the multiplayer is free and not DLC i'll give it ago.
They are quality devs, maybe they'll do something cool like Pirates Vs Drake mode or something.

Hmmmmm wonder what that could be....I doubt it will be an Uncharted Demo with Infamous like some others have said. But it will be interesting to see whats going down with Drake. Can't wait

They gotta stop this whole announcing announcements thing. It's not just gaming, either. Apple, among other tech companies, trying to create anticipation for a date in which they will announce something that is supposed to create anticipation!

I actually like it better when it comes un-announced, then you don't expect it. You just poking around the gaming sites and "BAM!" a nice juicy announcement that makes your week.

This just causes speculation galore, and in some cases hurts the announcement.

Manly: It creates anticipation because gamers these days hold on to any and every little thing like it's their next fix of heroin -_- I almost think gaming news and sales figures are more important to gamers now than the games themselves.

My guess though, to answer your second reply, is that this/these announcements aren't going to be big enough to wait for E3 for. Which would only support my opinion that they don't need the double announcement.

Both you and kotaku guessed that a Demo for Uncharted would be coming in inFamous... So... is that ONLY a guess?

An Uncharted 2 demo would certainly make me more likely to pick up inFamous.
And hopefully that would signal Sony's ending of its former practice of only letting those who preorder a game play the demo (which makes no sense for building buzz about a game).

Seriously, Uncharted and Bioshock were the standout, truly great games of 2007. Nothing even came close to touching these two that year.

Excitement is an understatement about how I feel about Uncharted 2.

In regards to the thread though, I actually could see an Uncharted 2 demo on Infamous. Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog and Insomniac all have history with each-other as developers (The adventuring 3 you could say). Lots of cross-work between them.

I am sure Sucker Punch would love to promote Uncharted 2, just as I am sure Naughty Dog would return the favor if given a chance.

I'm gonna have to call you out on that. Those games were great, but CoD4, Portal, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, God of War II, Halo 3 and more came out that year too. It was a really standout year for gaming.

Don't know what the inFamous announcement is but the Uncharted 2 multiplayer is the real deal. It ruined my day. I really just wanted the first one again in new locations with minor tweaks. However, it will still be the best game of the year.

I personally think BioShock 2, Uncharted 2 & Ratchet & Clank Future A Crack in Time have the best spots for GOTY. Personally I think so anyway.

Yeah for sure. Someone mentioned above that Uncharted and Bioshock blew everything else away in 2007 and I totally feel the same way. I love cod4 but nothing was like Uncharted and Bioshock and like you I am so amped for their sequels.Can't wait for A Crack in time and I'm also being cautiously optimistic about inFamous.

i think it'll be co-op for both games.

A demo in inFAMOUS for Uncharted 2 can be a great business decision seeing as how big Uncharted is, & how fresh & new coming inFAMOUS is. Therefore it will prosper in sales for inFAMOUS as well. Remember ZOE being packaged with the demo for MGS2? I had so much fun that month especially since it was close to my b-day.

I can see where you are going, and I have to apologize a bit... I should have used original instead of great in my post.

The point I was trying to make is those two games were far and away the best original games in 2007, meaning new classics being built. Sorry, should have explained more. You know, what I would consider Dead Space and LBP for 2008.

On a side note though, I have to disagree with you about SM:G and MP3... Metroid Prime was ruined by the Wii-mote, and SM:G has no rightful place in anybody's Top-3 Mario games, it barely makes the Top-5 in my book. They were great, but I wouldn't consider them on the level of the other mentioned.

If its a short Uncharted 2 demo bundled with inFamous then my "day 1" purchase just went to "day 0". As in I'll pre-order and may that game in full lol.
