Star Trek D-A-C hits XBLA in May, new screens hit right now

We already told you as much as we knew about Star Trek DAC when we grilled the game's senior producer and some folks from the film back at GDC 2009. Unfortunately, today's "new" information on the game from Paramount Digital Entertainment, Bad Robot Interactive, CBS and Naked Sky Entertainment (that's a mouthful!) did little to bolster our knowledge banks.

We do, however, have a batch of new screens from the upcoming game coming to XBLA next month (and PSN/PC "shortly thereafter"), featuring gameplay with some very Star Trekkian vistas. The movie hits theaters on May 8, so expect to see the game appear on XBLA "near" the film's launch.

'Undertow Reskinned'?

Does that screenshot remind anyone of the Star Control 2 melee minigame? Now that was a fun game! I spent hours playing against a friend. We'd have weekly tournaments.

I'd open my wallet immediately if that's what we're getting... Or for an HD remix.

(You can get Ur-Quan Masters as freeware for most operating systems, I haven't installed it yet but I hear it's good.)

So it's just gonna be an arcade game, not a full length game? That's kinda of a bummer.

I hope it plays like Armada for Dreamcast, that game was boss!

Looks like Battlestar Galactica XBLA reskinned. Stay far away.

It all depends on what you get your kick on... If you like original (for their time) plots that have incredible twists and turns than TOS is for you... But if you can look past retarded plots and just wanna see shiny lasers in space then have fun with your new crap

And i personally think shatner played his role perfect... Not to mention having an incredible supporting cast

You kids and your special effects and rehashed plots.

Besides the Enterprise itself, this game doesn't look remotely Star Trek. The Federation ships look very strange, and the Romulan ones all take after Nero's ship from the movie, which has a very specific reason for looking as it does.

I'm not exactly a hardcore Trek fan, but this may as well have just been a generic space shooter, and probably was before they picked up the liscence.

It looks just like the Bethesda Star Trek game, which wass so horrible that no word in any language can describe it adequately.

(And IMO, having just watched "The Menagerie", I think Christopher Pike and the seemingly unnamed Majell Barrett as "number 1" were more kick ass than anyone. Why couldn't they have kept that actor on TOS? Not that Shatner as Kirk wasn't cool.....I just enjoyed Pike a great deal. I can see Kirk in the new movie being played like Pike's character - young, sort of crushed spiritually by the weight of command. God, let this movie not suck....)

I have that star trek game for the 360 and have played it for maybe 15 minutes. I can't remember what it was like at all. I take it from your post that people won't have many good things to say about it.

No matter what world Picard goes to, Kirk was there first and probably has an illegitimate child somewhere on the planet.
