According to Videogamer.com, NCsoft and ArenaNet announced today that the Guild Wars franchise has now sold over 6 million copies. To celebrate the news, the subscription-free MMO will receive a new content update that will add new quests and more storage options. The party will also be extended into the Guild Wars universe itself starting April 28. We're not sure what the in-game celebration will entail, but we can only hope it will involve digital party hats and confetti.
Enjoy the party, Guild Wars fans. Hopefully, it will ease the wait for Guild Wars 2.

WoW still reigns supreme, but 6Mio is still an impressing number for an mmo.
aside from cities,
where are all the players at?
O-Oh yeah, instanced

Guild Wars has gone very crazy with the optional microtransactions too, which must make them a boatload of cash from the hardcore.

Sora is right Richard. You misworded it, the number of units sold has nothing to do with this update. The update itself is actually called the "fourth anniversery update" because April 28 marks 4 years since the orginal Guild Wars was released.
Might want to clarify that.

To be completely fair though, how many games/ "expansions" does Guild Wars have? 4 total i believe?
So while the franchise sold 6 million copies chances are a fair amount of that are people who bought the original and the 3 expansions. Even still 6 million sold totally is an impressive number.

Yeah, 4 now. I have the first 3, not EOTN. I got them on clearance at Sams club a few years back for like 40 bucks total, which is quite the nice price for the first 3. Great game. I hope GW 2 comes out soon and Ihope it is just as good, if not even better.

Yeah, six million isn't terribly high when you consider that there are essentially 3 GW games.

The game has been getting new content each month. This is the most significant, although it still doesn't add in any new areas. The weekly challenge missions, and trader who pops up in different locations with fancy new items has definitely brought me back though.

This makes me wish sometimes that I could find the time to play this game: I used to be addicted to it like crazy during high school.
