But do you have to reserve it at Best Buy?

I'm going to hold back any judgement on Uncharted 2 until it actually comes out (or at least until we all get a chance to play the beta). For all I know, it could be all the good of Gears of War + MGO combined.

It is a legitimate concern though that the MP may compromise the SP. MGS4 had the benefit of being a huge blockbuster title with what seems to be infinite budget. I'm not sure the same applies in Naughty Dog's case. It has earned more than a healthy $2 million in sales, so maybe they are OK.

Many a project has imploded b/c of overambition - Golden Axe: Beast Rider was one of the many that had to cut MP out at the last minute, and by that time, it was already too late and the SP game ended up being a complete failure.

I'm not sure you can blame MP for the failure of Golden Axe: Beast Rider. In fact, I'd argue that one of the main reasons for its failure was due to going after the wrong kind of MP. Golden Axe NEEDS co-op. That was one of the main reason people loved the original games. Beast Rider had no co-op.

The developer had a post-mortem discussion in Game Developer Magazine. The discussion's kind of interesting but yeah, they ended up not having enough veteran staff on board from what I can remember and this killed them even though they had had an early start. As a result, MP suffered and eventually had to be completely scrapped.

But what I'm saying is that even without MP the game was doomed to failure because of the lack of co-op. Look up some of the threads about the game before it released. I saw numerous comments from people stating that the game wouldn't be Golden Axe without co-op. it was a near universal opinion. Whether they had succeeded with MP or not would have matter little.

sorry, I meant co-op. You can't have Golden Axe without co-op! (much less MP), so I agree completely with you.

Making Golden Axe SP = lunacy.

I hope that this beta announcement doesn't mean that InFamous sucks or something. I wasn't excited about the game, but I was more than willing to give it the benefit of a doubt once the reviews are out.

From what it looks like to me the "free running" aspect of the game looks like u can just climb poles and ledges and then with one hand shoot out a lightning bolt and jump off and float down using electricity (somehow??). Also How bad/good can a sandbox style game really be? Once your finished with the game you probably have little side quests left and then game over trade it back/ save it to trade in with the many other games u beat already.

This and prototype are ganna be pretty much the same game/ style but is that good or bad or just... hell just play the game when it comes out.

WTB more single player oriented games please! Why does every good game out there worry so much about the multi-player aspect. I don't care to play final fantasy games with others that would completely ruin the experience.

Really though as long as they do like MGS4 and make the online play a separate functionality that in no way takes away from how awesome the single player aspect is. Then I am all for it. Its the games that sacrifice decent single player game play to add a half baked online play that really grind my gears.

uncharted 1 is a really great game. played 8 times (so i don't know about other people saying there is no replay value).

uncharted 2 will be better and that is fact.
the trailers (graphics is sweet) + the leaked gameplay (improved) = 100/10 x multiplayer = GOTY

now what i worry like the others is that multiplayer (not co-op, like the team deathmatch) may affect the single player. I'm not worried about the graphics or the gameplay cause i already seen it, what i worry is that the single player may be shorter than the previous game and that will be ****. BUT I know Naughty Dog won't let this happen, I trust Naughty Dog that they will deliver a great game.

i imagine playing uncharted multiplayer.................puts a smile on my face
sadly i'm not living in the US so there is no way i can play the beta.
so i have to wait....

Infamous wasnt going to flop, Sony pushed the release date up to not conflict with prototype AND had bonus deals even before this one was announced, not to mention the last trailer that was released was a hit with 98 percent of the people who viewed it. People want this game. The beta code is icing.

As for Uncharted, Naughty Dog has a lot riding on Uncharted. They know the game trades more on it's storyline and characters and the main single player game HAS to deliver on that, they;re not going to short change it. That would be like saying Here's 30 minutes of a really awesome movie, when that's over we're going to give you action figures of it to play with. They're not this dumb.

Now if you want to compare it with Resistance 2 Yes the single player was short. But it's not a game with as much character, the story is very simple and there's not as much involved in the main character's past. If you think about it you miss nothing but artificially extended levels in Resistance 2, and they make up for that with lots of multiplayer and co-operative modes. Uncharted one was said to be a great action game that was missing only one thing, multiplayer. Yes it's true not every game needs multiplayer but with the engine already built and the characters already designed for the most part there's more time for extras like creating a decent multiplayer engine.

It's hillariousl People complained about single player games without multiplayer, but the minute you add it there's always some joker that wants MORE, now people have to bitch about co-op!

Is this just for the US or is it coming to the UK as well as we are the second most important nation?

Why would I pre-order inFamous to THEN get the demo?

A little ass backwards, don't you think?

Play as one of millions of nathan drakes shooting your way through various cities....

Sounds really lame.

Offline co-op I would embrace though.

More ps3 games need some sort of offline multiplayer system.

Whew, there's certainly a lot of passion from users here...
The voting-up/down here is a little childish though. That said, I'm certainly in the camp that sees this as a good thing.
