Why miss, you look awfully proud of yourself. Is it because you had the gumption to down a brumak or did you look down and realize that you were drawn by comic book icon Jim Lee? Just go on sitting inappropriately atop that beastie's noggin while you mull it over.
Calling Gears of War "visceral yet elegant," Lee will illustrate the cover for the #9 issue of DC's comic book adaptation, which launched in late 2008 under the company's Wildstorm imprint. The issue is said to introduce a new character to the story, who we'd guess is miss sassy pants up there. According to the publisher, the series has enjoyed success so far among comic book enthusiasts, with the first two issues completely selling through their initial printing. The Jim Lee-covered issue is expected to fill collectors' pull lists in July, while a second alternate cover by Epic's art director Chris Perna is promised as well. Now, climb down off that thing, you're making us nervous.

Getting Jim Lee to ink the images is good news for the comic series. I just hope they have someone good writing it, that's the most important thing.

PS/ Who is Jim Lee? I was hoping the link would take me to something useful like wikipedia... but no, its another useless internal joystiq link. You DO realise that you have tags at the bottom of the article for that, right???

If there was ever a way to shoehorn tits into a property that is about anything but, Jim Lee will find it.
While I'm proud of my signed copy of UXM #248, this guy really hasn't branched out in the 17 or so years since.

Cliche as usual. The women in these kind of things all way look butch and ugly. I also don't get why they make comics for these things. These things have no story. Gears of War boils don't to "We am marines, they am bad things, we am good guys, kill bad things with guns". Now they will try to shoe horn some sort of personality and depth into the franchise that never existed in the first place.

Gears has a good story, but it's told poorly in the video games. A comic book might actually be a good place to get the story out in a respectable manner.

There's definitely a lot of subtle references to Gulf War 2 and the Israel/Palestine conflict in the Gears games, unfortunately it gets obscured by the urgency of having to chainsaw monsters who are constantly trying their damndest to murder you.
Still, the storytelling is a little ham-handed in the end products.

Well, as I recall in the novel there weren't supposed to be any more female Gears that actually fought aside from Bernie.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not...
What ever.

Ad if anyone was wondering, theres no way that Bernie is that red head on the cover of that comic. In the books she was supposed to be ugly, old(like in her fifties at least), and apparently looked like a dude. She looked tough, not like a super model with a gun.

Exactly right. Bernie this ain't. Also, I'm curious how they explain a female gear, given that virtually every woman is now expected to act as a baby-making machine for the greater good. The novels make it pretty clear that women are far, far too valuable to risk as Gears, because mankind is facing potential extinction due to attrition.

If she was in her fifties, menopause is a possibility.
Maybe they start running out of male Gears? The rest of the army doesn't seem nearly as tough as Delta squad.

That joke doesn't work out too well ace because you actually SEE the women in the game that you are taking to, so why would anyone mistake it as a little boy. Granted I understand it's just a JOKE, but a joke that makes no sense none the less.

It'll be interesting to see what a world so filled in the spectacle of male machismo does with a female cog soldier.
I mean I was hoping at times there would be a female character to play as just to break up the 'manly soldier' motif going on but I understand that having a character model that may be slimmer or shorter would give an unfair advantage in multiplayer.
Anyway, she looks to fit into the motif of guns and blood quite well.
