It's the usual stuff. You know, just riffin'. We're doing our best to get away from the navel gazing, but it's SO HARD when there aren't any games to play. As a special treat to alleviate the boredom, we've invited the JPAG's Randall Smith to join us. Unsurprisingly, he's far more professional than us.
Oh, and thanks to the brilliant Conor O'Byrne whose photoshop for this week came in through the bathroom window. If you're cool enough to want a wallpaper sized version, you can find it at the JPAG.

We won't get the 100th podcast until AFTER E3! And the last podcast before it is the 99th. Clever planning, podcasters. Very clever.

I wonder how George Harrison feels to be running with such kings of podcasting.

I think George was a good choice for a fourth member of the podcast. You already have a Ringo.

I respectfully request... nay demand, a Brush With Fame.
I've listened to the show religiously since episode 32, and would love to have my name broadcasted to millions of listeners. So, Justin, hook me up!

Maybe in the "what you've been playing" segment, Chris should say what he would be playing, if he could play. At least he can dream, that way. ;)

I just got into your podcast about ten ago, and I really enjoy it. Not as structured or as long as some of 1ups podcasts, but you guys are FAr more entertaining to listen to on a regular basis. I wish there was one everyday.

I'm really sad you guys didn't bring it this week, you should have jumped on that Zeno Clash steam action. I got it first day pre-order was available at 1/2 price. The homies over at bigdownload got it, and ya'll missing out! You will soon realize the error of your ways.

Great show, in spite of the navel gazing. One thing - while discussing portmanteau words, Ludwig was searching for the metaphorical place where he stores his fancy words. He missed the obvious place, that is, in his portmanteau.

This comment reminded me of one of my favorite This American Life shows, #371 "Scenes from a mall". Act Three was about the "Amalgamated Order of Real Bearded Santas," with just about the standard internet drama, but you wouldn't think it could brew up from such a seemingly benevolent group.

Sorry but you can't compare the crunch time that developers face to you guys going to E3. As an engineer myself, I can tell you there's a big difference between finding a memory leak somewhere in thousand of lines of code and writing a blog about video games. You can write a crappy article, and you still have an article to work with. If I write crappy code, everything breaks.
I'm not sure how many more podcasts I can listen to. You guys talk about yourselves like you're the most important people in the industry, when you're really among the least important. The people that make the games are the ones who matter, not so much the people that sit around talking about them.
Anyone can try out a video game and talk about what they thought of it. Most people could probably articulate it better than Justin (and probably with a less annoying voice).
So please don't compare yourselves with developers. They work their asses off so that you can have games to talk about.

To be fair, it's a self-perpetuating cycle. Without news outlets (like Joystiq), your games wouldn't sell and you wouldn't have a job. Without developers, there'd be no need for outlets for games news. It's a snake-eating-its-own-tail kind of thing.

No, the buyer is the one that matters. Game journos/bloggers are your link to that person. If an amazing game gets made in the forest and no customer hears about it, did it happen?
One thing that does happen is that studio fails.

I am a JPAG member and I just recently started posting here and there. My experience is, if you have something to say or something to respond to, people are willing to listen. Maybe you will feel overlooked, but I don't think it should be an issue of being too intimidated to post. I do like the new member welcome thread.

Holy crap! You guys finally decided to talk about Broken Sword for the DS! (Thanks, Ludwig) Well, at least you mentioned it. Hopefully one of you will go out and buy this game and talk about it in the upcoming weeks. Seriously, you guys were killing me with this nonsense about how there is nothing to play right now.
People need to buy this game if there is ever to be any hope of other adventure game classics (Sierra/LucasArts) being re-released in the future.
