Ugggg I am so sick of these band games. Just release a fucking download. I don't need a whole game. The only one that I am looking forward to is the Beatles, and thats because it promises to mix things up. plus it's harmonix.

If Activision promised them a DLC pack, the bands would not agree. The game will sell far more as a retail pack then it would as a DLC pack, in my opinion. Also, there's more money in it for the band if it's a full retail release.

Well that's great for the bands, but why not let us export the songs? AC/DC let Harmonix do it, I'm sure these bands would be O.K. with Activision doing it, that wouldn't hurt their sales at all, actually I would pick up these games if they let you do that.

Not everyone has live, and how would the Wii and PS2 owners go about getting this Van Halen DLC?

That doesn't really answer the question. They can still release this to everyone while including a code to let you export the songs if you would like too. There really is no excuse for this.

I like having it on a separate disc tbh
If they'd released metallica as wt dlc i wouldn't have liked it
the metallica engine just feels so much better.. It's a much better experience.
They seem to be tweaking the engine each game, and don't tell me you would like to play this stuff on an (arguably) crappy engine (wt)

Gamestop, since your story, have removed Guitar Hero: Van Halen from their listings. Hey, atleast we know a street date.

So between April and August there will have been 3 GH games released that in no way support each other...How can anyone support this? Also, releasing in August leaves plenty of time for more games to come out before the end of the year, I'm betting we'll see at least 2 more now that they are on this release a new game every 2 months cycle.

This isn't really news, as I could walk into any Gamestop, make up a game, and preorder it right then and there. I could serious preorder Super Traffic Dodging 2020 if I wanted to.

Mr. L has a point, you can preorder any game you wish. However, pre-ordering doesn't cost, and when said game never gets released, you won't be getting your made up game. However, for them to post details on it, with a release date and a price its hardly a made up game is it.

That's what they should have called Guitar Hero: World Tour.

I mean, even the name "World Tour" was taken from the RB 'campaign' mode.

i don't mind these games, as long as they put enough songs on them to make them worth the purchase. It's cheaper than DLC, and i don't mind getting off the couch to change disks if i want to play other songs. Van Halen has lots of good songs, and there is sure to be some good non Van Halen songs on it, it is the 80's hair band era.

Best part is how the story before this was about Rock Bands new album DLC for next week. The only way id EVER get another GH is if Activision allowed songs from every disk to be exportable to one game.

Can you imagine how many good songs you would have to play if Activision would have let us do this? If they had done this from the start I might have kept buying Guitar Hero.

The whole "its cheaper than DLC" line must be used by people who only play Guitar Hero because anyone with Rockband would know you only have to pay for the songs you want and nothing extra that you dont want.

the exception to that are the track pack discs, and those are exportable, and playable on RB1 and 2

You couldn’t be more wrong... it’s a fact, that is the bottom line. I own every console GH and every RB(minus boxed track packs). Just because you failed math and don’t understand a deal when you see it... that is not anyone else's problem. Who cares if you get a few songs that aren’t your cup of tea? You will find songs that you otherwise would have never heard. But you probably never will because you are a narrow minded fan boy. You pay more for DLC PERIOD. 80 cents a track or $2 a track. you decide

Considering Guitar hero Aerosmith is currently being sold at $9.99 I think it's a good thing for cheap customers like me that activision is releasing so many gh games. At this pace Guitar hero metallica will be $20 by november or earlier.

They flood their own market and yet they make such a profit with people who pay full price that they won't stop releasing this kind of band games anytime soon.

Oh, and about Van Halen, I couldn't be any less interested.

When are they going to release a band-centric Guitar Hero that has a group that wasn't around pre-1985? BTW I think Kiss has to be in negotiations by this point.

I'm sorry guys but i'm all for these Guitar Hero band oriented games. The two drawbacks for me though are that they've released at full price. 2nd that they should update everything from Aerosmith- GH II to become exportable to say GH Smash Hits or the 'non-spin-off' in the series. Neversoft & Activision... even if milking produce quality disc music gameplay time & time again. I picked up Aerosmith for $5 last week & I can't believe how cheap you can pick up GH A it's absolutely stunning with Aerosmith's best original tracks. I recommend anyone who isn't a filthy hater & procrastinates the word of the harbinger to go out & pick up the game ;) Also GH Metallica is probably the most fun music game ever in terms of headbanger gameplay.

I would agree with the idea of allowing importing of all these songs into World Tour IF and only if, they patch the UI with new features they've added to Metallica and Smash Hits, but I'm not sure if they'd go that way.

Sides, since the game doesn't have Rock Band's World Tour mode (where songs are rated by difficulty on the instruments and you pick the songs you want to play including DLC) I don't see this as too critical. But, then again most of the time when I have Rock Band parties no one likes to play that mode and mostly stick with Quick Play.

My other musical interests dictate that I should hate Van Halen, but for some reason I can't get enough of that synthesizer. They should definitely hold off on this one until they get a keyboard peripheral.

I also don't get the Sammy hate. Nostalgia is cool, and Diamond Dave is a great performer... But Sammy has a ridiculous vocal range, and 5150 was a great album.
