I'd say it's worth it for TF2 for PC alone.

When TF2 alone was listed at $10, I grabbed it right away, and felt like I was engaging in felony theft. This is just ridiculous.

I'm not too familiar with Steams policies, but If I've already bought Team Fortress 2 and Portal can I buy this and then gift the two games I've already bought?

You can! I just bought it after already having Team Fortress 2, and was able to gift the second copy to a friend :)

Even though I own orange box for the 360, I couldn't resist. This gives me full access to HL2 mods, which I've been dying to try out.

At 10 dollars, this is the greatest gaming steal that will probably ever exist.

I own the orange box on Xbox 360. Is it worth getting it on PC and will it run well on my Macbook (one of the new ones with 4GB of RAM)?

Well I have Windows on it and what not. I was just wondering about specs wise. If it runs on a pentium 4 I guess it should be alright.

Yeah you should be fine, I believe I only had 512 mb or ram when I first bought it. It ran fine for me, the loading killed me though.

I'm no computer brain, but I thought you had to get one specifically for a Mac to run it on a Mac.

My girlfriend's sleeping, or I'd ask her, she knows about these things.

Good luck though; love Macs myself.

Depends on your macbook
I have one of the new macbook pros and i can run Left 4 dead on max so im guessing all the other source engine games will run on max setting

Also you will need to have windows running on bootcamp to use steam

You shouldnt have a problem running Orange Box on an Aluminum Macbook. That is what I do most of my gaming on (mostly just TF2/L4D).

Just make sure it has proper ventilation while you are playing. because that aluminum gets mighty hot otherwise.

I have The Orange Box on my 360... I always wanted to be part of the Steam community, so this seems to be a good deal.

I'm not too much into PC gaming... can anyone tell me if I can run the games at a good framerate:

It's a laptop with a AMD Turion X2 at 2.1Ghz, 3GB of RAM and an ATI Radeon 3200 HD with HDMI output (ATI 780G)...

I know the procesor speed and RAM is enough to run the Source Engine, but I'm not sure about the video card. Any one with a similar card can give me some impressions when it comes to gaming?

You should be fine, I run a 7600 GT which I believe is comparable to the 3200 HD. I get like average 35-40 fps in TF2.

It should. If you're unsure, you can try downloading the Portal demo. If that runs well, you shouldn't have any trouble playing the half-life games. TF2 may be a different story though, as it's a little more demanding.

I'm more or less retarded when it comes to specs and stuff, but I have the T60 (http://i43.tinypic.com/qn8m10.jpg) and can run TF2 fine. My video settings in game are at the ... slightly below average settings, I guess? At any rate, the models don't look like horribly rendered glob people, so I'm happy.

That videocard is not by any means a powerful one, but it is adequate enough to play the Orange Box games at a playable frame rate. The Source engine is pretty optimized--my cousin plays TF2 on a GeForce 4 Ti (released around the time the Xbox came out) and he gets 30 to 60 FPS at the lowest settings.

A handy site I've recently found for this sort of thing. Compares your system against the minimum and recommended requirements.

This is such a great deal. If console gaming eventually goes to digital distribution only, I sure as hell hope they offer deals like this. I'll be severely upset if they continue to charge the current rate for a product they no longer need to spend packaging money on.

The system requirements for Source games tend to, at least in my experience with them, be really reasonable. I'd expect you should be fine. Unlike a lot of the games that have come out recently, it's not horribly coded.

I actually grabbed this. Not usually a fan of digital distribution, but at certain price points...it becomes worth it. Downloading Half-Life 2 right now. I didn't actually finish it the first time I started playing, I found the levels to be annoyingly short and nothing special - even though the gravity gun is fun at first. Worth another shot, though, and - of course - I simply must play Portal.

...yes...I'm the one person in the world who still hasn't...

Or maybe...that's...a lie?

lol... I bought HL2, HL2 ep1, HL2 ep3, and Portal, all separately... HL2 for $20 before the Orange Box came out, Portal for $20 stand alone (well worth it at the time... sooo good), and luckily got the episodes on their crazy sale. Still, I could have bought Orange Box full price for the same amount!

Is TF2 more than $10 normally?

Ep3 isn't out yet. I wasn't a huge fan of HL2, probably because HL1 was my favorite game of all time and my expectations were so high... so I wasn't into the episodes... but my friends played them and said that ep1 is better than the core game, and ep2 is better than ep1.... and that ep2 was so good that they were left craving ep3... so I started it up. I haven't gotten far in ep1, because my computer died, but I already could tell it was more half-lifey than half-life 2.

And I'll just wait until my tax return and the new laptop that follows to get TF2 in that case. no sense in getting the orange box for $10 if I have all the games but TF2, which is $10.

Anybody but me actually like Turok?

I already have The Orange Box on PS3, but my PS3's wifi connection is unreliable, and even when I connect, there's frequently not many other people playing TF2. Even worse, there's no sprays on the PS3, and almost nobody has a headset. On top of that, the load times are atrocious for Portal and HL2, and I've run into crazy framerate issues on multiple occasions. It was well worth the $10 for the PC version.

If I had a 360 and its version of The Orange Box, I might not have bothered with this, but it's well worth the $10 as a replacement for the PS3 version.

The ironic thing is, I didn't really even like HL2 that much. I'm mostly just getting this for TF2 and Portal.

TF2 is a completely different experience on PC, lots more players, new maps, class unlocks and most importantly the balancing is perfect down to keyboard and mouse. Snipers are actually playable on PC!

Holy bloody piss!! This is quite possibly the most insane deal I've ever heard of. So many impossibly great games in one package...for 10 bucks.

Un-fucking-real.

I already have it, but this makes me want to go out and buy it again, just so I can feel like I'm stealing from the developers.

What do you think:
Pentium 4 3.00 GHz
1 gig RAM
Integrated graphics (sucks)
Windows XP

Oh, and it's a Dell >
