Bethesda thought about making a game of the year edition, but their computers kept crashing when they tried to access their files

I've waited to buy the DLC partly because of Broken Steel and partly because i wanted to see if there would be a retail package with all of them, so now i'm wondering if they are going to also have one with broken steel later, oh well, this is still nice

But you save a whole penny! ;)

Although if you buy it at a retail store, you'd have to pay sales tax (in most states, at least) which would make it more expensive overall.

Get it from amazon, no tax. Plus, when we buy points via xbox live we pay tax also, so paying tax at a store is not really different from buying points online and buying the stuff.

forced into buying more microsoft points than you need and having too little left over to get anything else is more incentive for me to get it from a store

I'm guessing that they've got more DLC on the way, and they plan on selling them in packs of two.

Also, when do we get dog armor?

@Dr. Flex - are you sure that we pay tax on MS points? $12.50 was charged to my credit card for 1000 points, which doesn't seem to include tax.

In any event, the difference is small...but there does seem to be a (slight) difference.

well, it's true. how would you feel if modern warfare 2 had exclusive maps only for ps3? crappy right? if you're gonna give a platform a game, you should also give them the extra content for that game. they might as well not have released it on ps3 considering broken steel is gonna change the game!

Look at the 360 fanboys whining over the Joker levels in Arkham Asylum, even though it's all but confirmed to be coming to the 360 shortly after.

It works both ways.. But exclusive DLC, timed or not really needs to stop.

Actually I don't think this one has anything to do with Microsoft.. Isn't it just Bethesda's inability to code DLC for the PS3, the same way Oblivion never got any?

Thats a good question. If it were only on PC I would say almost definitelly a disk, but as it's on 360 as well it could go either way

These two both sounded pretty crap from reviews and forums, and at $20 it becomes a level of money where you can buy something else awesome.

It would seem that in the UK it costs slightly more to buy from amazon. Its retailing at £14.99, and 1000 MS points costs £8.50...making the DLC £13.60. That said, I will definitelly be getting this from amazon for one reason - I don't own a 360 (I would be getting the PC version) so I have no use for the 400 MS points I would have left over. It really annoys me that everything on live costs some multiple of 400pts (usually) but you can only buy in multiples of 500.

"Broken Steel" might cost $30? Damn. That plus $10 each for "OA" and "The Pitt" and you're closing in on the full cost of a new game.

Seeing as how I bought Fallout 3 when it came out, do I want to experience the total Fallout 3 experience for $110?

I first heard about this retail expansion disk, from the Betheseda forums. But the thread I read wasn't interested in this expansion disk. Lots of online retailers have had this up for a couple of days. But they also have a second Fallout 3 expansion disk up. This one is called, "Broken Steel and Point Lookout", and all of the online retailers I checked, reported it will have a June 9th release date. So if your wondering why they didn't throw in Broken Steel to the O:A, Pitt pack thats why.

Hopefully this could mean that we end up with it being released on steam too, once GFW Live marketplace loses its monopoly on the DLC... which would be great since I don't want to buy anything through the GFWL marketplace.

Yay, the early adapters get screwed over yet again.

Seriously, I like their product enough to buy it on release and now they release a new version with a cool(?) poster so the people who didn't want to support the company earlier get rewarded. That's a shitty way to treat your customers IMO.

It's no different from waiting to buy a game after a few months, rather than getting it as soon as it's released. Those who wait are obviously going to get a better deal. I loved Fallout, but I'm more than willing to wait for a bundle that includes all the DLC as one.

I imagine people will buy it, install it to their hard drive then return it for a full refund claming it was an unwanted present or they didn't have fallout 3 to play it on.

Most of the games retailers I have dealt with on returns will only exchange an open product for the same product (like if the first disc fails to read or something).

Here's a link to a spanish online retailer selling another expansion pack, like the above poster mentioned, dated June 15th. Including Broken Steel and another expansion not yet announced called Point Lookout.
I'm sure you'll be able to install these onto your harddrive, like Oblivion GOTY, if you don't have access to Xbox Live.
